Logitech Mouse Buttons Mapping Problems

I have a problem using a Logitech G5 and G7 mouse in mapping the LEFT SCROLL and RIGHT SCROLL button. I want to use the RIGHT SCROLL for MAP(keyboard-m) and the LEFT SCROLL for weapon number 3 (keboard-3). I am using Logitech Setpoint v4.6 (latest) and have installed UberOptions (latest version that's compatible with Setpoint v4.6). I have made sure that PR.EXE (and BF.EXE) is included in the MANAGE PROGRAMS and ADVANCED GAME SETTINGS-RECOGNIZED GAMES.
Under SELECT BUTTON in Setpoint, I have setup the RIGHT SCROLL Keystroke Assignment position to 'M' and LEFT Scroll Keystroke Assignment position to '3', (I APPLY after each).
Under MOUSE GAME Settings, I have checked the GAME DETECTION box. Unchecked the KEEP KEYPRESS BUTTON ASSIGNMENTS (tried it checked as well)and unchecked the KEEP OTHER BUTTON ASSIGNMENTS.
Now after all that crap, I startup PR and select OPTIONS-CONTROLS. Under MAP-SECONDARY box, when I move the RIGHT SCROLL button, nothing happens...box stays gray waiting for an assignment. The same happens with the Weapon #3 SECONDARY box. I have tried various key assignments on the mouse with no luck. The LEFT SCROLL and RIGHT SCROLL is just not recpgnized at all. This also happens on BF2 as well.
Sorry for the long post, but if anyone has had the same problem, or knows of a solution, PLEASE let me know.
One last point...all aspects of the game works fine with the remaining mouse settings.
Thanks to all!!!

i had to actually edit the text files in my documents/battefield2/profiles inside that folder you will find a default folder and a 0001 folder, look for a controls.con file, open it with notepad and edit the lines you need. hope that helps it was the only way to could get several of the keys to remap.

Blu Dragon,
Thanks for your reply.
I opened the controls.com file with notepad as you suggested, but there are so many files...which one do I need to edit? Also, I assume you are saying 'edit' a line of instruction, not add. Is this correct?

Thanks,
SniperMan

You need to assign those keys to a keystroke in the logitech software program.
Then assign those keystrokes in your controls menu in BF2.

honestly sniper i haven't messed with that file since i installed bf2, i always copy it for a reinstall so i don't have to mess with it. but yes you do not add any lines you will have to edit the control function for the specific action you are wanting to remap.

i know about the logitech software as i also have a logitech mouse, actually its a trackball but im not sure those functions will remap like you want. You might try remapping those keys to a generic or unused keyboard key then remap the function in the con file to that specific key. if that makes any sense.

edit: upon further reading of johnnydoube's post i think he is actually suggesting the same thing, sorry johnny
