BF2 NOT RUNNING LIKE IT SHOULD!

I just bought BF2 full version at EA shop and I can play for the first day. Then the next day problem started with PUNKBUSTER.... When I join a game it always say "Service Communication Failure, PnkBstrB.exe Handshaking Failed" or something like that. I searched on the net and there is nothing useful. I disabled the firewalls, Norton 360 antivirus, allowed the pnkbstrb.exe and pnkastra.exe getting through the firewalls, manuelly updated pb , reinstalled pb and the BF2 , plus i posted a trouble ticket at evenbalance.com. But it's just not working. Something is wrong. All of my computer's security are down.

Punkbuster sux! Its not your fault, that it doesnt work ;D


I also have the problem sometimes, try to restart your game and connect at the same server again. It always works for me. Also make sure you firewall is disabled/ right configured when your playing (you dont need any firewall, while playing unless you directly connected to the internet).

you aren't the only one having the issues with PB. I also have the handskaing failure error alot. Or it justs disconnects from the server im on. i've done searchs also and not found a good answer i think its on the PB or EA side.

Omfg, I tried all you said (allowed pb use my computer with full permission, firewall disabled...) I hate PunkBuster, it randomly disconnect me from BF2. I did not even finished loading and it kick me for PnkBstrB.exe handshaking failure. It's pissing me off and I want to kill those pb adminastrator. They do nothing but disconnect you randomly.

since u disabled the anti-virus and added PR and BF2.exe to ur allow list , well ur done with that !!

did u update PB ? manualy or using the PB software ? if u didnt , well u should and im sure that should fix ur problem

BF2 is at newest version (v.1.41).
PB at newest version(Client v2.086 | A1392) (Server v1.670 | A1392 | C2.086)
I'm running VISTA that's the problem, there's no solution for it.

Have you got same version only ticked?
If it isn't then make sure to tick that, and also do the same for 'same mod'.

he means in game, server slecetion screen, select or put a 'tick' mark in the boxes for those options he mentioned.

As i stated before, i have been playing PR since it was only a mini-mod, i bought bf2 about a week after it came out. Im no stranger to all the issues over the years that PB has had. I know for a factim up to date on PB, i have bf2 up to curent version, and PR also, i have tried all the bug fixes.

One new one i found is now PB seems to place a 2nd PnkBstrB.exe file in your main/pb dir, not only the one in the windows dir, it also adds a PnkBstrK.sys file but the ones in the main/pb folder only appear when u r in a server, join a server and alt tab out and make sure those have permissions as well. Ive done that also nd im still having issues getting d/c all the time. Im convinced the issue is on EAs or PBs side and nothing i do can fix it.

I did tick that same mod thing and i did tick punkbuster box...
