Problem installing
Ok, so I have downloaded the client core for PR. I click on the exe and it just sits there with the hour-glass and does nothing. This is driving me nuts. I have windows XP, a pentium 4 3.333ghz. This has to be a computer problem since I have been unable to find any posts about this problem. Do I need any thing special to even run the installer?
Oh, and also. It never shows up in my task manager. It is like it just cannot run the exe for some reason |

Re: Problem installing
Do you have any hard disk activity while hourglass is running?
Do you have multiple displays enabled, and installer/message could be on that "second" display maybe...try to turn off multiple displays and see... Try to download once again? Try to check for memory/system problems? Antivirus/malware applications maybe blocking .exe? Some system/registry maintenance such as Tune-Up utilities or CCleaner could help? Report back. |

Re: Problem installing
It does take some time for the installer to unpack all the stuff (it's over a gig you know)
Wait at least 5 to 8 minuets, so be patient and chill for at least 10 before going into the task manager to end the "stalled" install. Getting inpatient and clicking on the installer again will start another unpacking to start (slowing down the process even more) If no movement or progress after ten toss installer out and download from another source. Good luck |

Re: Problem installing
I suspect it may be something along the lines of my computer needing a re-format, or ccleanup and tune-up. I have noticed a lot of applications taking a while to start. Even just playing BF2 takes a while for the screen to go from black to the game. I did click the exe and let it sit for about 30 mins one night. No luck. I think I am going to reformat, this is driving me nuts.
Also, has anybody been having a hell of time getting kicked out of BF2 due to "Restriction: Service communcation failure Pnkbstrb.exe"? I tried everything recommended at the PB website and nothing has worked. I even disabled my firewall, and tried to re-install pb. Driving me up the wall I tell ya. |
