Losing Faith
For a long time now I've been hearing how great Project Reality was, that it is indeed, the best Battlefield 2 mod out there for download. Seeing as how I enjoy realism, IE: Forgotten Hope I decided, hey what the heck, I'll download it.
It was a late night, I had just reformated my PC not only that morning, starting fresh. I reinstalled BF2 and its Patch's and had been playing happily on Karkand Infantry servers every now and then throughout the day. Finally night came, and I decided to download PR, thirty minutes went by, and the download finished. pr_0756_core_setup.exe was finished. I proceeded to wait another 5 for the pr_0756_patch.exe to download, as I had a sense that I was going to need it. Finally I was ready to begin installing Project Reality. Having no other mods installed, and a fresh installation of Battlefield 2, I double clicked the core setup, and began installation. 5 minutes later, It was done. I saw the tiny Project Reality shortcut arrive on my desktop, beckoning me to click it. But for performance sake I right clicked it, hit properties, and went to my target box, and entered in my custom Screen Resolution by means of +szx and +szy. Great, now I knew it would run well. Again beckoning me to click it, I proceeded and without hesitation clicked it. My screen turned black, and I was excited to see what the mod team had accomplished, the BCC logo, and the Project Reality logo flashed through, I logged into my account bringing up the "Welcome To Project Reality" sign. Read the Mods latest Message, and then proceeded to hit multiplay. Noticing that all the servers were red, I quickly exited the game, and installed the Project Reality Patch. Now everything should be in order. So I start her up again, going through the same routine, clicking on multiplay, setting my server filters, clicking the ping icon to find the servers with the lowest pings and viola! I found one, it was on a map called Bi Ming, well wonderful, I start her up, and I get in game, everything seems to be running just fine. But the large map had me confused, so I left, and found another server with less people playing a 16 player version of a map resembling Strike At Karkand. It loaded half way through and then a sudden crash to the desktop. Strange I thought to myself, so I started again, and tried yet another map, different from the previous 2, and it too crashed. Thinking I must have done something wrong, I reinstalled the whole bundle, Battlefield 2, Project Reality, its Patch, Punkbuster, everything, I started up again, and this time, the only map that ever worked, was now crashing Bi Ming, along with all the others. Im beginning to lose faith that I will ever get to play Project Reality, as I cannot even join a game without a sudden CTD destroying all my hopes and dreams. Perhaps some of you could enlighten me, and find an answer to my redundant problem. |

Re: Losing Faith
You only need to download:
pr_0756_core_setup.exe and pr_0756_levels.exe The first download on the "files" page is the patch. Without PR 0.7, this patch will do NOTHING for you. Download a set of the files (Boxes 2 and 3, not the first box of links or the last) from this page, install the core, then the levels. Try this, and you should be ready to go. HINT: You didn't have the levels installed before, that's why the servers were red. Who knows how Bi Ming managed to work. |
