BF2 on MAC OS X
So, anyone know of an easier ways to get BF2 running on a new Mac?? I have seen things like downloading things and changing around tons of differnt files deep in the BF2's core but I really dont want to do all that shyt. Is there something i can download like a pack or something that will just make it work with some black magic?? lol
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I don't have a PC for now, just sold my quad core SLI rig recently for a MacBook Pro for college) Thanks Frank |

Re: BF2 on MAC OS X
I've yet to hear it working in native MAC OSX, DX9 being the main problem.
Only under bootcamp have I seen it run. |

Re: BF2 on MAC OS X
There exists only Battlefield 1942 and 2142 for Mac, so no you can't run BF2 on the Mac OS X without bootcamp.

Re: BF2 on MAC OS X
You can run PR 0.75 on MacOSX, but no one yet found a way to get multiplayer working.
You actually use Cider to get the game working...running punkbuster service is the other side of the bat though. There are some hints on insanelymac forums. You can check it out there, and maybe help to get multiplayer part done if you have some uber programming skillz? I would love not to have to boot to Vista every evening just to play PR, but I'm forced due to MP kicking me out. |

Use "Parallels Desktop 3.0" instead.
Hope you backed up your PC or saved your old HD. Sure book camp would no doubt run PR with more Ram, but hopefully you got the 15"-17" 2.4 Mz book with the core 2 duo T7500(O#MA895LL) or better yet T7700(O#896LL). Each can use up to 4 gigs of ram and I dare say your gonna need it. Good luck with school |

Re: BF2 on MAC OS X
yeah I have a MacBook Pro with 4gb of OCZ RAM and a 512mb 8600GT and the 2.6ghz 45nm C2D.
but I guess Im not gonna get it running without bootcamp. No worries Ill just wait until I build another performance rig. Pretty sad how 1942 was released for MAC, then BF2 wasn't, and then 2142 was. And DICE/EA never even released a patch or anything for BF2. |

Re: BF2 on MAC OS X
Yeah AC, ive been playing PR on a macbook pro for about 2 years lol
Only way to do it is to use bootcamp, those emulation programs arnt very friendly to multiplayer. Bootcamp is sheer brilliance, i dont know why your so hesitant to use it? Been working with no problems for me for two years (well, ignoring the fact that XP is utter shite and so prone to screwing itself up without the assistance of bootcamp). |
