core is fine, but i found that Video Card (nVidia GeForce 6200 TC) goes up to 90C
while playing PR.
is it too high? could be this the issue?
There is no fan on video card, just passive cooling

I'm having the same problems, and i really do not think it's temprature. Im using a aftermarket fan on the cpu, fan on the gfx card, i have a huge side fan and a smaller front case fan. Ive tried BF2 cleaner, havent tried reinstalling. I

f its JUST temprature, more pepepole would have this problem and and i dont know WHO is NOT having this problem.

Rather not play windowed since BF2 shrinks the screen to fit the maximum window size (thus making it blurry, not good when your pixel hunting.)

I went on a server with the other Insurgency map, Archer I think it's called, it has alot of mountains. Played for about 5-6 minutes, then CTD'd. Now I crash to desktop within 2-10 minutes after joining a server.

Was wondering if anyone else began crashing alot after playing that map? It seemed to load okay, a little longer than normal. Anyways, not sure if I'll reinstall until the .80 patch comes out, (unless someone knows how to fix the issue), hope it's soon....

It's always a good idea to flush out your video card cache after a CTD. I use battlefield cleaner
works great and can't hurt

Re: Completely random CTDs

google and get smartdoctor 5.12 for your geforce card.
then activate in "hyperdrive" --> "tepmerature mode"

this solved my CTD props.
i've got an asus 8800 GT

I used Battlefield Cleaner and cleaned up, but when i logged in I crashed again. The difference this time is it told me why i crashed, because punkbuster B failed to handshake.

So I deleted Punkbuster in the control panel/uninstall program. Then I deleted the pb folder at Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2, I got the info from here:

Go to Program Files
EA Games
BF2

In the folder you will se a folder named "pb"
delete this folder

Now download the PBsetup Program
Run through adding BF2 and updating the PB files.

Now check that you have the "pb" folder back in your BF2 folder.

Restart
Frag away
PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed - Tactical Gamer

After doing that and reinstalling Punkbuster, (PUNKBUSTER SETUP), and making sure my firewall wasn't blocking it, I checked services and noticed I didn't have Punkbuster B installed. So I did the above again and still didn't PB-B anywhere. I read somewhere else that after deleting the PB folder from BF2, and also deleting using Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs that you need to restart your computer before reinstalling Punkbuster. - This was my key to success

After restarting my computer and then reinstalling punkbuster, I was able to play Project reality again and everything else.

Hope the above helps someone else.

Disabling PB on the server stops the ctd's
that's what a few people have said in this thread.
Does that mean your VGA card is overheating?
No.
Is anyone getting CTD when PB is disabled on the server?

Re: Completely random CTDs

I do NOT get the problem when PB is disabled.

This is purely a PB error.

Reinstalling PB has NOT fixed the error.

I think the problem is maybe with the shader checks, even though the shaders of a player are working (in my case) the shader check PB thingy causes a CTD? This may be the error, as the problem may not occur on servers not running the shader check (I'm told be people who know more about it than I do).
