Re: Completely random CTDs

I have gotten the latest nVidia drivers for my card and it did not fix or affect anything, so I'd assume it's probably PB.

I keep CTDing all the time in PR, today I crashed while driving around Basrah in a car, then I CTD as APC driver on Ejod in the middle of the city.

It's going to drive me insane, luckily I don't fly a lot cos there'd be a bunch of people who'd never want to fly in my chopper again.

[R-DEV]Gaz: Shout "WE R L33TZ" at the MD, sucker punch him, then teabag him while shouting "WHO OWNS YA? WHO OWNS YA? SAY OUR NAME! IGI! IGI! IGI! OFP2 Beta plz?"

Hey, I fixed my problem of CTD'ing all the time. All I did was reinstall PR and used BF2 Cleaner. I never CTD since. Also, I think the problem was that I still had .7 installed with the .75 patch but I just uninstalled everything and reinstalled the full core/levels of .75. It worked for me and maybe it'll work for you ;D

Download Battlefield 2 Cleaner 2.0 - Battlefield 2 fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle Coalition. - Softpedia

That's the link for Bf2 Cleaner.

Good luck

Doesn't happen to me, but I see it happen a lot to others. Some RGG guys and a buddy were playing Al Basrah when slowly everyone CTD'd, then finally 1 got kicked for PB problems and I was all alone. I don't know what has caused this lately, because in the early days of .75 I haven't seen it at such a large scale.

This probably has happened to me and several friends.

On a server with which we have an admin, the problem went away when he turned off PB.

I have tried a BF2 install on a new HDD with a new XP install with different drivers and hardware with the same effects.

I think this is a PB error for sure.

The CTD can also occur in 10-15 minute intervals.

Hmmm....I have an ATI card and get this CTD problem on occasion (today for example).

I have not been able to figure out what could be doing it (although i did get a total crash related to this thing "cmaudio.sys").

Random time (from 5 minutes to an hour)...today on Qwai (sp?) i crashed after nearly an hour...no big action or anything near the Mine...bit of a firefight happening with my squadmates (Flydoggie and 'something'-Dakota) but nothing video intensive. System temp is tolerable (barely above 'warm') so that is not an issue.

Frustrating to be sure...confusing more than anything tho.

Same happens to me, a random CTDs
searched all threads and i did following:

1/uninstalled BF2 and PR
2/installed BF2 + patch 1.41
3/installed PR core + levels
4/installed pbsetup.exe and updated PB
5/installed BF2 cleaner and did cleaning
6/checked all fans and cables etc.

and still getting random CTDs.
This started to happen like last 3-4 weeks. Before i never had a CTD.

Any advice?

To all folks with random CTD's.
Take note of room temp before gaming, and when crashing.
Usually poor room ventilation.
Seriously....this always ends up being a cooling issue.
Put a window fan next to your case.
SOME ATI cards, the fan software does not work.
Use aftermarket rivatuner 2.09 or such from 3dguru.
Always have good cooling when gaming.
Before trying drivers or installs...
put a big ass fan next to the case and open it.
Play then.
After that.
Look in forums for further help.

===FATCAT3359.....if you notice the last 3-4 weeks, summer has been in full effect....fans..cooling is the answer

Johnny it most definatly is nothing to do with temperature or at least not in my case, i did CPU and GPU temperature checks after playing for quite some time and they were no where near hot enough to warrent such frequent CTD's. I got the impression from another thread that it was someone deliberatly causing this?

What are your temps in celsius?
If you get near 75C , you will have major trouble and even 65C is pushing it
