well i was playing PR fine for days, went to play tonight and it loaded up fine, but CTD the second that i tried to join a server.
so i reinstalled PR thinking the problem just lied with that, same problem. Loaded PR in windowed mode to try and get an error box, no luck there then thought, well i wonder if BF2 works... nope exactly the same problem, plus no error box unistalled everythnig BF2 from my PC, restarted my PC then went on to install now this is the final "extracting the urine" for tonights events auto-play comes up perfectly and i get the little menu... click on install and the preparing of the software blah blah comes up... then everything stops dead check task manager and nothing BF2 related is running i've never heard of this before, but if anyone has and has an answer to this then PLEASE tell me as i am going to get withdrawal symptoms without PR! |

Re: BF2 / PR is FUBAR
fyi ctds still happen b/c bf2 is still buggy
so you do not have to reinstall on every ctd - if they happen occasionally as for not being able to install: are you talking about a freez? and if so, which: the ones where you can move the mouse but nothing will happen if clicked or the one where not even the mouse will move? or the one where your pc will reboot automatically (after a BSoD (which appeared for a split second))? welcome to my world |

I think if you can't reinstall you might have registry issues.
Using CCleaner which is a driver, file and registry cleaner program may help. But "if you do not feel comfortable messing with registry entries you may want to skip this step as messing up here may screw up other applications and Windows in general" and go back to a restore point before the problem started. When I first switched over to Vista with a clean install(no upgrade with the cheep OEM Vista) I uninstalled bf2 by just tossing the ea file folder out...big mistake. I found I couldn't reinstall it. Using add remove programs didn't fix it after the fact AND as it was a new install in my hurry to get PR running I didn't leave any bread crumbs on the upgrade path by setting RESTORE POINTS.I did not feel comfortable messing with registry entries on a new system I had 0 experience with so I was forced to reinstall Vista from scratch.I now set restore points after each software installation I do. The next time you crash in game run battlefield cleaner to clean out your cache files that may have become corrupted before you restart. Hope it helps |
