Re: Game crashes to desktop while loading

After working on the problem for over an hour, I still haven't fixed it.

However, whatever it is that is afflicting me, seems to only apply to PR and not Vanilla BF2 as I was able to log on to multiple servers and play for several runs without fault.

I have also now reinstalled the full versions of the PR Core and levels files and completely removed & reinstalled PB, just to be sure.

After doing some internet searching I found a trick where you set the parameters on the PR shortcut to fullscreen = 0 and see what error you get, this is mine:

I have no idea what that means, but I'm hoping someone does.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Game crashes to desktop while loading

Alrighty then...

So I've gone through and searched google for other people that have had the same problem as me and in pretty much every post that has reported this error message, no one has produced a working fix (most posts that have this error simply go unanswered).

Since my last post, I have tried a memory fix using "MS Visual C+++ Express" that supposedly alloted more virtual memory for the game to run. It didn't work.

After that, I completely Uninstalled PR and all PR related items (practive mod as wells as Single Player accessories) via windows vista add/remove programs and then went back and manually deleted the remaining directories and there contents just to be sure. After a restart I then reinstalled PR full core and PR levels and crossed my fingers to only have it not work again.

I'm actually running out of ideas at this point in time since I've completely uninstalled/reinstalled both PR and PB as well as ran the 1.41 update patch for BF2 again. This problems comes after being away from my computer for a few days so absolutely nothing has changed (that I'm aware of, and I'm the only user of my computer) to bring this problem about.

I miss my PR...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Re: Game crashes to desktop while loading

So I started fresh this morning (it's amazing what a little sleep can do to refresh a perspective) and thought I'd give the "complete uninstall/reinstall PR" idea another try. While I was going through the motions to do this, I noticed that the PR_Levels file that I had downloaded was titled 708 not 756. So I went and downloaded the proper version and that seemed to fix the problem (so far). I'm not sure how I ended up getting a 708 version as I was trying to ensure I got all the current versions of things, but there it was, and now it's working.

Re: Game crashes to desktop while loading

I'm unable to find it at the moment unfortunately...

WHen I started having these problems I started grabbing the files from alternate sources since I was having problems (and was trying to remove the "bad download" scenerio from the list of possible problems).

I probably grabbed it from the "other related files" at totalbf2, filefront, or the like.

I HAD the same problem. It happened for a very long time, I would say about a 7 month period. But then I re-installed about 2 months ago and It has never happened again.

I don't know what caused it, but hopefully this doesn't "jinx" it

Re: Game crashes to desktop while loading

As you have a Dualcore-CUP, did u try to assign pr to only one of these cores?
I had some crashes recently aswell, (not during loadup, just sometimes in game, which is also quite annoying) so i have read somewhere, that this can occure when pr is not assigned to one cpu-core.
->Start game, on main menu, switch to desktop, open task manager, search pr.exe process, leftclick, assignment, select only one cpu-core
