Computer Issues...

Ok, I have upgraded a few of my main problems with my slightly old and useless PC , But I'm currently looking for a decent graphic card to complete my upgrade.

Currently I'm looking at a NVidia GeForce 7300 GT 512MB card (old card was Nvidia GeForce 5200 128MB...or something like that). And can anyone work out what my frame rate would be with this new card??

I have just tossed out my small amount of RAM in favor of 2 sticks of DDR SDRAM 1Gb. (old RAM was one stick of 256MB an one stick of 512MB)

I'm wondering will this upgrade stop most/all of my lagging and bad frame rates that I have had so far with my old parts.

My new system if I go with the Graphic card I have mentioned will be this -

CPU - AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (really 2.1GHz )
RAM - 2 sticks of 1 GB DDR1 (2 GB of RAM for the mathematically challenged)
Video Card - NVidia GeForce 7300 GT 512MB card

Other info isn't really that important + it all works fine.

Re: Computer Issues...

it should work just fine.

my pc is nearly the same, the only diverence is that i have a sempron cpu. even slower.
i rarely have lag (usualy i run at 40 frames).

maybe you could turn down your graffix just a litle, ive learned, it makes a big diverence.

excuse my grammar... XD

greets,

Tim

I cannot give you any exact figures as that is map dependant, also, the scenery in each part of the particular map in question plus the activity going on at that time (amount of players around etc) will affect your frame rate.
Your computer is quite poorly spec'ed even now I'm sorry to tell you. But what would improve it even more is more ram. If you are running xp then one more gig of ram would work, and with vista 32, 2 more gigs will work (correct me if I'm wrong there).
I would best guess at around 30fps at 1024x768 on medium settings which should be enough to stop it being jerky.
I am running a intel core 2 extreme 2.93 ghz with 4 gigs of ram and two 8800 ultra cards and am only getting 80 - 90 fps @1920 x 1200 at high settings, so I guess that gives you a clue as to how much pr needs.
I hope this helps.
Maybe somebody running a similar spec to you can give you a more accurate idea.

Re: Computer Issues...

@ white death - My settings are almost always at Low/Medium but I will see just how well I can handle it after I get my card.

@ Lexus@[gp] - I very much aware that my system is still pretty bad but all these changes should help it a lot (will be building a new system once I get some things sorted...give it 2 or more months ). And I'm pretty sure I can't have anymore RAM, I only have 2 RAM slots on my board and I think my limit is 2 GB due to the age of my board and the Type of RAM I'm limited to use (DDR SDRAM). I'm using Windows XP as well, Before the upgrade my small amount of RAM did work...but not as well as I wanted. I have tried BF2 off line and its working a hell of a lot better. But It will be a good week or more before Im back on PR due to an internet cap (running at 64Kps instead of my usual 1500Kps due to a download cap that is getting doubled soon, going from 12GB to 25Gb ).

But that should give me some time to get the new card and get my system up and running as best I can.
