cant play PR on flatscreen please help :(

ok so i have a samsung syncmaster 941bw 19" flat screen monitor, when i originally hooked it up through DVI everything worked fine EXCEPT the only program i really care about which is BF2 {or PR to be precise} i can only go so far as the sign in screen, after signing in it crashes to desktop. so i used a VGA to DVI adaptor and ran the monitor in analog instead of digital, and now i can play PR no problem. but i would really really like to use this monitor in digital mode for everything, i cant figure out why PR crashes on digital and not analog.

has anyone else had this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated

Were you playing PR before you fitted the screen?

Maybe you want to delete the video config files. If you can't find them at this location, then delete the entire folder and run the game setting everything up again.

Start/MyDocuments\Battlefield2

yeah before i had the flatscreen i had an old crappy 17 inch crt monitor that i used to play PR with. i will try deleting the video config file thanks.

That's probably it, yeah. Has to do with resolution and/or refresh rate. It's your video.con file that let's PR crash. Removing that, should fix it, I reckon.

If it doesn't, run PR in windowed mode, you should get an error message then.

it worked thanks so much!!! it looks quite a bit better now too, and seems to run a little faster {probly because it doesnt have to go through that stupid adaptor now} now all i need to do is figure out a way to get PR to run in 1440 x 900, i think i can do it by editing the PR shortcut im gonna go look it up..

It's the refresh rate. Same thing happened to me when I went from VGA CRT to VGA LCD

Make sure you put the refresh rate at the correct level!

does that mean set the refresh rate in PR the same as the the desktop?

always best to game in the same resolution and refresh rate as your desktop is running. Things go smoother as it isn't trying to fight.

you need to alter your shortcut to display the game correctly. adding on two values to the end.

+szx 1440 +szy 900
__________________
make sure there is a space between this code and the end of your shortcut line.

Hi i tried that but with + szx 1152 + szy 664 insted.
It runs in 1280x1024 but when i run normal bf2 with these settings it works.
Any suggestions to why this may be

i had to put a rem in front of the respective line in the video.con if i remember correctly. and clear the shader cache. and set the refresh rate to 60Hz.
