Freind CTD's with no error.
A buddy of mine has been having a CTD problem all night long. His brother and I, both run the game smoothly, but his CTD's after a few minutes on the server with us. Could it be possible that when they play from the same IP address, he gets kicked?
Really good mod, would like to get him up and killing infidels with us a.s.a.p. ^^ |

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
Should not be the case if they're using a router or hub.
Usually DHCP is set to auto assign ip address inside the network. Might be a issue if he is "piggy backing through his brothers computer(one computer sharing its internet connection)if so they need to get a Ethernet hub. The new setup would be: cable/DSL modem to new hubs "uplink or "wan" port each computer connected to hub with its own cable Most isps will supply their users with a router that has a built in hub and often wireless as well. If they don't have one tell 'em to call and ask for a new one at no cost. They can go to their isps local outlet (like Comcast has) with the old one and ask to exchange it for a better one(for free) Corrupted cache files can cause "CTD" tell him to toss out his cache files: C:\Users\"his name"\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache If he needs more help have him post his rigs specks along with the his symptoms here. good luck |

I'm pretty sure they are on seperate cables from the router, so thats probaly not the cause. So, as soon as he gets on, I'll have him dump those files. Thanks.

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
Tell him to change "fullscreen 1" to "fullscreen 0" in his shortcut properties and then play. The game will be in windowed mode but he will get an error message when he CTDs.

Well, we tried your suggestions, and he cleared his cache files, changed to window mode, and everything worked great, but, about 2m 30s after his brother joins the game he gets kicked. Another interesting part, is that any server he joins, even if his brother isn't on it, he still gets kicked, but only when his brother is on. They are running a modem that is actually a modem and a router all-in-one type modem, Siemens gigaset se567 is the name.
His computer specs are as follows: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1 HP Model A6235x AMD Athalon 64 x2 dual core processor 6000+ 3Ghz 3GB of RAM Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS 256MB 500GB HD , 339GB unused space BF2 V1.41 and all Expansions |

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
OK his rig is way good soooo
Have him set his short cut to force the game to only use 1 cpu and start in "windows" mode like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 He should have it set to run as admin and compatibility XP. I don't think thats it but lets cover all bases. Now please tell me he has his own BF2 S# and online account and the younger brother isn't using his older brothers old computer. Does he get kicked for high ping? Sounds like a network or punkbuster thing. Can they use each others computer as a test, log in to their own accounts and see what happens? Hope this helps |

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
We tried that line you have there and it pops up an error: "the name "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct." So not sure whats happening there. We'll have to try the account switch.

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
Sorry bout that,
Mine is: "E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 I changed E to C and the 1 at the end to 0 His install is on his "C" drive right? Did you copy and paste the string? If not do so. Replace "E" with the correct drive letter and the 1 at the end by hand hit apply. Should work dang nab it!! Try to get error message and post it AFFINITY 2 is what sets 1 cpu according to what I've read also check to make sure the 0 at the end is a # not o the letter I just checked mine after replacing 1 with 0 and it worked fine. Thats all I can think of for now hope it helps |

Re: Freind CTD's with no error.
Only use "Program Files (x86)" if you are on vista... Otherwise "Program Files".
