Re: CTD with some Maps...
I've heard of problems with wifi. Can you jack in with a cable to check it?
Can you play Kashan OK? Your using a laptop with XP I guess. All the maps have a hell of a lot of detail(trees, bushes, ect.)unlike Kashan so your video card may just be running out of ram. Can you set aside more ram to share with it in your bios? Are you locking up or is the system just going to virtual ram disk? Do you have at least 20% free space on your HD? Do you defrag often? PR pushes hardware to the max as you know so run sound in hardware med or low if you can. Hope it helps Good luck |

Re: CTD with some Maps...
I haven't a laptop but XP yes.
I have deleted intro but I had this prob before. Kashan is ok. Cable not possible... I have Wifi yes. More ram possible. On disk "D" (where BF2 is installed) I have 4.5 giga free. I'll try to fix it. Sound is high with EAX. "Are you locking up or is the system just going to virtual ram disk?" => Dunno... Edit: Now I have 20% free space on my disk "D". I reinstalled the levels. Set all video settings LOW and sound too. Distance at 50% ( ahahah). ========> Always freezing on THESE maps............................... |

Re: CTD with some Maps...
All those maps need a lot of video ram to store all of the map in video ram on board the card and
it sounds like you have lightened as much of the work load to the card as you can (all low,no anti aliasing and the monitor and card set to 680x640 res) Does your rig meet all the recommended System Specifications for Project Reality: 2.4GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, Video Card with at least 256 MB of RAM? Ram is cheep so get at least another gig. You can get a GeForce 7600GS 512MB PCI Express for a little as $64.99 or a Geforce 8600 512mb for $76.50. Check out pricewatch If you only have two ram slots and you have a 512 in each consider buying the fastest ram your mother board can take to replace them with with. Chances are you can reuse the new ram when you upgrade later to a better board. Corrupted cache files can cause "CTD" as well Toss out your cache files before you spend any $$: C:\Users\"your name"\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache. Good luck |

Re: CTD with some Maps...
I dont know if you have the same problem as I had but for me it helped to downgrade my graphic driver. I only CTD'ed at Qwai, but absolutely try to downgrade the drivers and try again.

Re: CTD with some Maps...
Toss the files INSIDE the folder not the folder itself. The game should make a fresh cache file when you restart.
You can also backup the entire bf2 folder( create archive)inside your home folder, then toss it (org. folder)in the trash but don't empty it. Restart game and see if you can join servers. Doing this you will lose all your custom settings but you may get a step closer to solving the CTD. Rename the new folder and restore the trash to get back to what you had. Hope it helps |

Re: CTD with some Maps...
If I understood well, I "delete" the "Rashaderdefault.cfx"?

Re: CTD with some Maps...
Sorry for any confusion.
You should have a "cache file folder" inside the "cache" folder. Anything inside the "main" cache folder will be referred to as a cache file folder My current cache file folder is named: D7B71EE2-3100-11CF-8571-082DA1C2CA35}_2965_3 It is located in my documents folder. Their are 689 CFX files inside it. Here is the path: C:\Users\"your user name here"\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\{D7B71EE2-3100-11CF-8571-082DA1C2CA35}_2965_3 So when you open your cache folder, trash everything inside(any and all cache file folders). For me that would be the folder: "D7B71EE2-3100-11CF-8571-082DA1C2CA35}_2965_3" You don't have to empty the trash, just restart PR and a new fresh cache file folder with the new CFX files inside is created. Good luck |
