PR.exe/BF2.exe Error

Hi everyone. im new and i just joined to day and im havein some problems with the game.... Whenever i click on it(i have everything installed .7-75 core/client/patch/and patch 1.41) before the game a screen come up and say i need to switch my shortcuts and make PR run on pr.exe. now i have vista and i cant find the run bar.... and im tryin to switch Pr from running on bf2.exe but cant find.. please help me. thanks for your time, Josh

Sounds like your PR shortcut is broke.

Check PRs desktop short cut "target" window. It should have pr.exe in it like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"+modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

And to force the game to only use one cpu as well:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

To paraphrase [R-MOD]Masaq:
"What pr.exe does is basically load up BF2.exe with a set of additional instructions - "Run as usual, but instead of normal shaders uses PRs own". It allows the mod to use additional shaders that BF2 doesn't include as standard - basically, the supression effects."

Check "run as admin" box and run in XP compatibility mode too if your running Vista.

Also if you have a downloaded version of BF2 it won't work, I think they have different .exe files but I'm not for sure. I had to buy a disc copy to play PR, they are only like 10 bucks at Wal-Mart.

Deadfast made a fix for your issue, it will definately work if its the downloaded version.

Make sure ur shortcut is right, and search for your needed information next time.

Privatepain: read through this guide.

Grizzly: Rudd is right. The fix I've made should be able to help you with launching the downloader version. Or at least as long as you don't have Vista. Then there's unpleasantly high chance that it might not work (thanks to Vista's account rights screwing)...
