Vista 64/PR - LowPSModel and Unsupported Compiler Target error

Vista 64/PR - LowPSModel and Unsupported Compiler Target error

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Help. I have a new system, new install with vista 64, 4 gig ram. All runs good. I have been testing, benching, and gaming on the system for over a week (COD4, Stalker, BF2 Vanilla (just to test)). All run fine.

Now ready for the big leagues, I load up PR. I did the correct routine, with patch, up to .756 (levels and cores..maps too). I run as admin, and even did the run under xp sp2. I also downloaded the Vista 64 sp1.

I keep getting an series of errors that start with:

Particles fix(229) error x3401 Unsupported Compiler Target 'LowPSModel'

Also, the path is "mods/bf2/shaders/particles.fx" then more for trail.fx, nonscreenalignedparticles.fx, decals.fx, roadcompiled.fx..with everything being the same up through "shaders/"

Any ideas? I have been searching for an hour or so and can not find good, complete info on this.

Thanks for your help in advance...StevieRay

Looks like corrupt shader files. You can try redownloading and reinstalling PR and if nothing works I can send you mine.

Thanks Cheeseman...I have been ALL over the forums and web. I copied the shaders file from the shaders_client file in bf2 which was an old special forces fix..that didnt work. Reinstall then? Thank you.

Make sure your shortcut has "program files (x86)" in the target. If I remember correctly I had a problem like this with a mod and it was the shortcut.

Re: Vista 64/PR - LowPSModel and Unsupported Compiler Target error

Ok, first the standard install instruction. All components must be installed only in this order:

1. BF2
2. BF2 1.41 patch
3. PR 0.756 Core
4. PR 0.756 Levels

Or, if your install files are for PR 0.708, then install order is:

1. BF2
2. BF2 1.41 patch
3. PR 0.708 Core
4. PR 0.708 Levels
5. PR 0.708 -> 0.756 patch

Any other combination or order will cause problems.

Secondly, check your motherboard's RAM compatibility charts. Weird issues with corrupted files can be evidence of RAM problems. Although your system seemingly can support 4 GB RAM, your motherboard might still be incompatible with those particular memory modules you've installed.

When using large amount of memory it's essential to check motherboard user manual for limitations and recommendations regarding memory module sizes, speeds, chip layouts and types.

Ok, checked with Ram and mobo manufacturer. They are compatible.

I uninstalled bf2, patches, PR, everything. Reinstalled in order (as I did before) checked run as admin, xp compatible mode, and now I get this....

Staticmesh.fx(2) error x1507 failed to open source file 'mods/xpack/shaders/datatypes.fx'

I did not install special forces. Do I need to have SF installed? I have played PR for almost 2 years with no issues and now this.

Check this out:

Please help.

I don't know enough about PR's/BF2's inner life to tell whether or not Special Forces is offically required, but according to your error and link you provided it seem to be mandatory. The path in the error message indeed point to SF mod folder: 'mods/xpack/shaders/datatypes.fx'
