LAN CD Key woes
I searched for CD Key problems, and changed the registry. Then when that didn't work I reinstalled BF2 on one of the computers on my network. You see, I've got 2 BF2 CDs, one for each computer on my network and if I make them both go on the same public internet server, one of them always says there's a CD key error. However, they can both go on seperate internet servers (although they seem more prone to crashing).

Re: LAN CD Key woes
I didn't really get the point of this thread.
Are you asking why is this happening? If so, then it's simply because of CD key duplicity. You cannot use the same CD key for more computers while playing online. There's nothing else you can do about it then just buy another copy. |

Re: LAN CD Key woes
I did buy snother copy, I've got two seperate CD's with seperate CD keys. they can both go on public BF2 servers at the same time, just not the same one as the other together. Basically, I want to go on the same server as my brother with other players on the internet. It must be because we are sharing the same router on the network. I'm posting on this HELP forum to ask if anyone can help me find a solution. That's the point of this thread.

Re: LAN CD Key woes
are you sure you have installed the bf2s with different keys? coz otherwise it should work.

Re: LAN CD Key woes
I've found out how to make this work now.
Everytime I connected before, one of the computers would either say 'invalid CD key', or just exit the game instantly with no message. The trick is to login and completely load a public game on one computer while the other is logged off BF2 altogether, only after the first computer is totally loaded up into a game can the other one log on to BF2. After they've both logged on and gone into a game, they can both go into any game they like as many times as they like until one of them logs off BF2. God knows why it has to be done like this, isn't troubleshooting fun? |
