Mic not working in BF2/PR

Hey, I've been playing recently and have finally twigged why no one is paying any attention to me. It seems I've been talking to a wall for the past few days. I've gone and checked out my mic and can't see what the problem is.

• Mic works in other applications i.e Windows Sound recorder ; X-fire ; Teamspeak. I've got the boost active and all is fine there.
• If I run the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2VoiceSetup.exe it all works fine but when I go in to the in game audio settings and start the mic test I get nothing, and this is obviously what is happening ingame with the squad VIOP

Can anyone suggest anything to resolve this that doesn't mean re-installing cause don't think I can be bothered to do that just right now.
