look at your network properties (on your computer, not router etc) and try turning off QoS if it's enabled.. i had the same problem, got nice pings but real choppy gameplay.. turned off QoS on my ethernet adapter properties and everything went smoothly from there!

What to do:

As soon as you join server open console (~ key underneath ESC) and type in:
renderer.drawfps 1
and hit enter
Observe (min/max/average) the first number and tell us the results.

Also, how often do you defrag?

i defrag at leatst once a month em still working on the fps my PB keeps kicking me atm

dont download stuff while playing (eg torrents) - basically don't run anything aside from the game

when ingame, xfire menu has the FPS in the upper left corner by default - or just post a screen shot of ur xfire menu ingame (scroll+s)
