Got the X-Fi ExtremeGamer for $100 aprox. It works correctly with highest audio settings. One good thing to do is, read about the specs and what the card can/cannot do before you buy it. Doing it the other way around is usually a bad idea, and will leave you wondering why you cant do what you thought you could..

The following Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi cards will support full EAX and gaming in BF2 and other titles.
- X-Fi Xtreme Gamer - X-Fi Xtreme Music This is the 1st generation of the Xtreme Gamer - X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro Series Best bang for buck, includes all features except front panel connectors - X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Falat1ty Champion Series Previously known as just X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS - X-Fi Elite Pro You've got to be pretty crazy to buy this for gaming. Note: the SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio is, as has been previously mentioned, not a true X-Fi card. Though it incorporates the same 24bit Crystalizer and CMSS-3D technology, it does so on a rebuilt Audigy 4 chip and not the X-Fi chip. Because of this, it is incapable of the processing power required for true X-Fi gaming. I hope this helps. Cheers, |

There really isnt' a difference in the Fatility and the Regular card. Go to newegg.com and check mark both and click compare. Pretty much exactly the same thing.
Also, make sure to buy when it has a rebate, like at newegg. They offer the card about every other week for $50 after rebates. (for the gamer card, not the crappy music audio card.) As far as other cards, ASUS is crashing Creative's Monopoly party right now and putting out some great new very powerful cards. Google for some reviews. |

I've got the fatal1ty, and in my experience it's a total piece of crap!
Pr, bf2 and 2142 all get the sound problems/lag and crashes when I try using them with or without eax enabled. Game mode is no different to any other mode, they all cause my computer problems. I've just re-formatted and reinstalled my os. I took the sound card out before I put in the new os, then refitted the sound card, but it still shares an irq with one of my graphics cards. This was according to creative, the cure, but my problem is that, due to running two graphics cards (2x8800 ultras), they are big beasts, and I can only fit the sound card in the only remaining slot. (the graphics cards block one slot between them, so I can't use that). It just seems to be luck of the draw, weather your x-fi will work without problems. I bought an x-mod usb soundcard in the end, and it works perfectly. I can't get the ultra settings with it, but on hardware and high, it's pretty good. I'm looking for a decent alternative so I can ditch my x-fi piece of junk. Turtle beach perhaps? Can anyone recomend a decent card that is not creative? Cost is not a problem as long as it works properly. It's about time nvidia and creative stopped blaming each other and sorted this problem out. |

An IRQ issue or conflict between your Graphics Card and Audio Card is not the fault of the Audio Card.
This link shows some insight on the issue even with an older system. So unless you have Vista, in XP there should be a way to set those IRQs. Graphics card/irq problem - TechSpot Troubleshooting |

It happened to me when I put in the Fata1ty pro.
My friend took it and fixed it over night. |
