Ideal resolution for a 22"

I need to know if a 22" LCD with a Maximum Resolution of 1680x1050 is good...

Isn't it possible to get a resolution smaller than the screen size? (like when you have a res of 800x600 on a 19" it doesnt look good)

So basically, will a res of 1680x1050 be ideal/good quality on an LCD with a viewable area of 22"?

Native is always best if you can run it, but if you cant it no problem: use a smaller wide screen resolution.
