Mic problem that I can't find anything about anywhere
Hey, well here's my problem:
I have a Koss SB45 headset plugged in to an on-board ADI AD1988B 8-Channel sound card. Whenever I use the microphone test in BF2 the sound comes out all garbled and distorted. Sometimes at twice the speed that I was really talking (sounds like mickey mouse or something) and sometimes it just sounds really bad and garbled. Now the odd part is that when I test the voice in-game with my brother, who has an identical computer and setup, same sound drivers and everything, it comes out a lot better than the test. I have no idea why this happens, and I'm guessing that the reason it comes out ok for him is that he's got the same sound card drivers and codec, but that it might sound as horribly bad as the threshold test does, for other people I play with. Another thing I've noticed is that BF2 always drags my microphone volume (set in Recording options on the SoundMAX control panel)up to 100%, instead of 20% where I want to have it. I have mic boost on and my threshold set to 0. I've tried messing around with the threshold, but it doesn't make a difference. Does anyone have similar problems, or know how to fix this? |
