stuttering is usually casused by not enough ram. so get more ram!
all i can say is if u dont have 2gb or higher of ram, keep textures setting set to medium or lower |

Check to see if any background programs are running. Possibly turn those off, so your computer is focusing more on BF2 and less on something else.
Could also be that your settings are too high for your card. Are you getting a bad FPS, or just occasional stuttering? Hit tidle key "~" and type "renderer.drawfps 1" to show your in-game FPS. From there you can normally tell if its RAM related, or if its GFX card related. |

run your game resolution same or near as desktop resolution. then start turning graphics options down, bit by bit until you get a balance.

Here are a couple of ideas for freeing up RAM:
1. Lower your resolution. I would take MrD's reccomendation a step further, and drop it below your montitor's native res. Before I bought more RAM, I had the same stuttering problem. I changed my resoluition from 1440x900 to 1280x800. Worked like a charm. I think you significantly reduce the amount of information that your RAM must process when you drop below your monitor's native res. Obviously you will take a hit on picture quality, but you just can't have it all. 2. Check out this BF2 tweak guide: TweakGuides.com - Battlefield 2 Tweak Guide. Some graphics settings have more of an impact on the overall appearance of your game, and this guide gives some good insight as to what you can change. 3. Use a program like FSAutoStart to automatically shutdown background programs and services before you start your game, and automatically restart them after you're done. I used to recommend using a batch file to do this, but FSAutoStart is much easier to use, and is much more effective. |

ingame fps
I used the tilde key and renderer.drawfps 1 function to check my fps. I had two red numbers displayed seperated by "/". What do each of these numbers refer to? One was 50 to 60 and the other was about 20.
Thanks |

It's FPS/latency between frames
