Punk buster

My computer has been dead for about 3 months. I just fixed it, just installed BF2, updated it to 1.41, installed PR core and Levels, and go to join and I get in game and then get banned from PB...

The error says...

Punk buster permanent ban issued on this game server for player Sudano86 (me) Global punk buster 1288e63a.

Any ideas... I can never get BF2 to work with out an error... I dont have anything really installed, it's like the first mod, I havent even loaded up bf2 yet, went straight to PR.

Was it just that one server, or did this happen multiple times? If it was just one server, I would contact the server admin to see what happened. If it's happening on multiple servers, then you should go to PBBans (Always Quality over Quantity) or PunksBusted.com- in Partnership with 24-play.com to see if you happen to be on the master ban list.

Your BF2 cd-key has been, most likely, permanently banned.
This means that you won't be able to play on any PB protected server.

Either you forgot to tell us about the wall-hack you were using or someone's been so 'lucky' to generate your CD key and got caught cheating.

Turn 360 degrees and walk away is what you should do tbh.

No I don't cheat. Cheating is stupid anyway but cheating on PR just wouldn't even make sense to me.

It has happened on 2 servers. I don't want to keep trying because if I can't fix it then I will be banned from most of the servers! I'll try your link.

The problem is, that if you really have global ban, then you are banned on every server around the globe that runs PunkBuster. Visited or not.

Try to join some more servers and if the situation repeats, then I'm afraid you'll have to get yourself a new CD key (buy a new game).
Of course you could try to contact Evenbalance, but I doubt they'll help you.

There is a process for getting yourself removed from the MBL. I don't know anything about it (having never been banned myself), but you probably have some sort of recourse. Did you ever modify any of the core BF2 files? Even if you aren't hacking, PB can ban you if the core programs file have been changed. Also, if you use a P2P file sharing program, make sure you haven't ever shared your BF2 folder. Someone could have downloaded you CD key and posted it, earning you an automatic global ban.

I do use torrents but I have never shared my bf2 folder. I've had the game since it came out, I'll just go pick up another copy of BF2 instead, doesn't really bother me that much. Then I can play the best mod for bf2 of course, PR.

Yeah, it's probably only like $20 for a new copy these days.

I searched your ID at PBBans (Always Quality over Quantity) and your name came up not on file.

Quote:
Your search results in BattleField 2 for Sudano86
Search returned 0 bans(s)
I also searched the ban number with the same results,
Quote:
Your search results in BattleField 2 for 1288e63a
Search returned 0 bans(s)
are you sure both are 100% accurate?

Two points of note, from the evenbalance website:

As you can see in the 1st paragraph, if you've accidentally shared your CD Key its a CD ban, buy a new CD and you're OK. If, however, its a hack ban, you computer is physically banned.

You can appeal your ban here: PBBans | Ban Appeal
