Sparkling VO...
Problem solved!
Hello all. I just got myself a new soundcard - Sound Blaster Audigy SE. I know, it's nothing special, it doesn't even support X-Fi, but overall it's like 10 times better than the onboard piece of crap I've been using before (I had to run on Software sounds, what obviously was messing up with my FPS). Besides, it was extremely cheap. So, now to the problem. Everything worked fine till I joined a game (changed my sound to Hardware with High). There wasn't a problem either - 5t truck had some awesome bass, gun sounds were completely awesome, but then somebody used the voice-over 'Enemy tank spotted, over'. It came out like: E-e-e-e-n-n-n-e-e-e-m-m-m-y-y-y t-t-t-a-a-a-n-n-n-k-k-k s-s-s-p-p-p-o-o-o-t-t-t-e-e-e-d-d-d o-o-o-v-v-v-e-e-e-r-r-r. Now fine, the map was Fools Road (or as I like to call it, Fool's Lag), thought it was either because of my low FPS or because of too high sound settings. So I lowered the sound quality to Hardware Low and loaded up Al Kufrah. Ignoring the fact that the sound was worse than with my onboard card, the problem didn't go away. It wasn't lagging anymore, but after most of the words I could still hear the sparkling, which is very annoying. Here's a little demo (362 kB) to show you what's going on with it. Any help very appreciated! EDIT: Forgot the sound driver version: Sound Blaster Audigy, v 1.4.64 EDIT2: I don't know what happened, but after 5th PC restart and countless game restarts the problem somehow disappeared by itself... |
