Converting Battlerecorderfiles into AVI or something else
Hi,
maybe someone can explain to me, how I can convert those files from battlerecorder (demox.bf2demo) into AVI or MPEG. And is there a Tool to edit or view the demo files outside of BF2? Thanks in advance. |

I think the easiest way is to use FRAPS to record clips, while you're playing demo file in BF2.
After that you can edit recorded clips in Adobe Premiere Pro or with something like that. |

What I want to know is if I can make it so I donīt have to fast forward through 2 hours to film something, then have to do it all over again because I need to redo it?

Fraps is the easiest way... as yes not being able to rewind is a real pain. Its just not possible.

Also be aware, if you are going to use Windows movie Maker (maybe with other software, not sure) don't start editing your video with your actual FRAPS recordings (sizes are HUGE, too big to compile the whole thing at the end of the editing process). Before sticking clips into Video editing software, try converting the FRAPS files (which I think are currently a high quality AVi format) into something like an MPEG (or a file format that isnt huge)
Try it, because I spent like 3 hours or more on editing a video, only to get a error message just before I started compling the video. so i had to save all FRAPS files as WMV then put them into Windows movie maker, then edited (all over agin) and then compiled it. Then I had to convert again to DiVx Fromat, to upload the video (roughly 300Mb in size and 19mins long) to stage6, which supports that sort of video size/length. The upload took 2 hours or so. I was tired. The end. So ye, don't repeat the same mistake & thanks for reading |

Ok, thx for the hints. Is there no way to simply convert the demofile into an AVI file?
And I'll try this Adobe prog. |

I don't believe there is any converter for the demofiles to AVI. Would be very nice, but haven't heard of anything. The inability to rewind makes me hate BR.

Of course there's no way to convert BR files to an AVI, lol. It's just a file that contains all the events that occured within a certain period. It's not a movie-file or anything like it. It's like asking to convert a Word-document to the MP3-format
The FRAPS AVI-captures are RAW, there's no compression whatsoever (one reason why I love it). So yes, the files you get are pretty big. Don't know how Windows Movie Maker (bleh) handles it, but I can imagine it's not doing too well with it: MS product AND wasn't designed to handle all these large files. Anyhow, if you've rendered your vid (few gigs, depending on the length and res), just encode it with DivX or XviD and it should be pretty small then. Something very easy-to-use piece of software is Magic Video Converter. Converts anything to anything, very useful tool. |
