CTD from newbie

Hi all
Have dl all of the required files, the 2 main ones i mean and when i go to join the game it ctd.

My specs are big
512 nvidia
4gb ram
top cpu and mb
Pain 1700 aus $ just for the box
All other games play great and so does fh2 which was the reason for the update.
I can run my video in full and have np

I have updated the video drivers and the PB

I have read here all that has been said about but i still have ctd as soon as i join the server

Over to tthe forum for any support that you may be able to give me

I really want to play this mod as i really hate bf2 with so many bunny jumpers and well you know what i mean.
This mod looks great

PS I would also like a singleplay map so i can learn a few of the things that i would need.

Ta for now

Yes there is singleplayer.. Look into the subforum..

I guess you have 1.41 installed. Try playing on 1 core if you have dual/quad and try reinstalling BF2, 1.41 and PR

please name your gfx card and operating system

if your running vista i suggest downloading the hotfix, mentioned here: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...formation.html

if not and you use a dual core ("top cpu" ) set the bf2.exe processes affinity to one core only

if nothing works/applies tell us exactly when it ctds (e.g.: u hit the join button, it is loading at xx%)

also CTDs can relate to overheating so you might wanna check the temps when running PR

Got a PROBLEM? Check this: Project Reality Detailed Installation Guide

Wink INSTALL EARLIER NVIDIA DRIVERS, I Recommend 80's.

Ok,
I too was getting alot of ctd's. Now because I have never came across a solution that worked but only possible causes please dont quote me on this.
People have infact determined that this is a video card issue. This narrowed down my idea's as to what could be causing the ctd's. After lots of trial and error, I have FINALLY found the cause of the infamous CTD... The same bug that defeated EA's pathetic attempt in trying to find a solution for it.

INSTALL EARLIER NVIDIA DRIVERS! 80's work best!

Same issue as SARS possibly

Greetings all,

I also encounter a CTD when I try to join any map in singleplayer (PR 0.6). Everything proceeds normally, and after loading, I get the join screen. After I choose my kit (any kit), I get a CTD. I am still waiting on SP 0.7.

The idea for using older Nvidia drivers is a good one, as it has gotten me out of jams in the past. I do run several other mods (OPK, NAW, and the expansion packs) with no problems whatsoever. The only thing I may have problems with is running on XP x64.

System:

Abit KN9 BIOS rev. 14
AMD 6000+
4GB (2 X 2GB) OCZ Reaper RAM
4 X 1TB SATA Seagate 7200.11 in RAID mode 0+1 (plus one additional 1TB drive for the crumbs of data I accumulate)
BFG 8800GTX 768MB
1 Ultra 1000W + 1 Ultra 600W P/S
Couple of DVDRAMs, yadda, yadda, yadda...

Should be able to handle almost anything in the hardware department. Every other BF2 mod runs fine.

I did see a note in another thread about a 64 bit fix for Vista, but is anything out there for XP x64? I have tried installing multiple times.

Thanks all,

Troutcannon
