Performance issue...

Hi every one, i buy a new computer in June.. ( thats not a while ago... ) i got a "Customs Made" PC. I mean i choose all piece in at the store they assembled it and i get back home.

I have an Advanced Micro Device 6000+ 2x 3.2Ghz, 2 8800GTS 640 Megs sli connected, 2 Gig of Corsaire runing @ 800Mhz, a 10K Raptor HDD and a Enermax Galaxy PSU rated @ 1000Whats. Running on Vista.

Now, when i play Project Reality (and ONLY Project Reality.. BF2, AAO[can reach 300fps ingame] & R6LV are running very fine ) i have serious performance issue... like freaking lag spike, little freeze and Crash To Desktop.

I'm playing every thing on max except shadow ( i put it off ) @ 1680x1050 whit FSAA 8x and Anisotropic 8x.

So is there any fix for this or i must deal whit it ? ( ill not roll back on XP, got to many important file )

Plus, most people say that until Vista SP1, to get the same gaming power as an XP machine running 2 gigs of ram you need 4 gigs in a vista machine. PR does require a lot of RAM to play. Other games are more GPU hungry.

You are running the resolution closest to your desktop too aren't you? That's one little setting that helps with performance where you are trying to squeeze everything possible out of your games.

Thank you for the information every one. Now if a Mod can close it up and "delete" it from the list.

Except change your drive letter from F: to C:, or where ever you have your game.
Also, you shouldn't play with your Lighting setting on High. A lot of times it will cause you to crash every 2 to 3 maps. Put it on Med. Tweakguides.com has photos and it shows there is little difference between Med. and High anyway.
And yeah, you need to go back to the store and get a least 1 more gig of RAM. I started out with vista playing with 2 gigs, but when I went to 4, most of my problems like what you have described went away. (I am on Vista 64).
You could get another gig for $35, or another 2 gigs for $50.
