Also, if using a wifi router, turn it off when you get internet problems. Leave it off for at least 30 seconds and then turn it on again and see if your net gets better. Check the maufacturers home page for firmware updates, or just blame your ISP like I do for jittery issues on an evening!

how about trying to switch the wlan-channel? like from 1 to 11 or something?

actually same goes for MrD

and actually to turn the router off just forces to aquire a new IP from the ISP - don't see how that would help
nor does it help you with the WLAN - at least not that i could explain other than bandwidth reevaluation of your wlan-adapter on the pc - which you could do without cutting that poor router's current
