USB headset quit working in PRM..strange..help!!

System:
Win XP SP2
2 G RAM
7600 GT Video PCI

My Plantronics DSP 500 USB mic quit working in PRM (I don't see the mic Xmit icon in game). Used to work just fine.

Tried a COMPLETE reinstall (BF2 , 1.41 patch , PRM) and skipped the mic set up in the BF2 install (all it ever gives is an error anyway).

Fired up PRM and went directly to Audio and Mic test.

Once in a while it will work (status bar turns green and I can hear what I say) when I first start PRM but more often than not it doesn't once PRM has been up and running a bit. If I keep clicking on the mic test button once in a while I can get it to work but even saving the settings at that point doesn't help.

I know the mic works just fine (tested it on other programs).

I've tried removing and re installingthe USB device manager etc.

Anyone have ANY suggestions??

since you said - that you can hear your self only once in a while when in audio config test mode
sounds a bit like the problem i had - using a logitec usb mic: Link

since when do you have this problem? - possibly since the patch?

also - it appears that the voip transmission infos ingame in the hud are not up-to-date from time to time - meaning ppl (including myself) have it, that we can't see who is speaking - makes me think, that maybe your transmittion indicator just doesnt appear and you are still heard?
