bf2 editor not working

i downloaded bf2 editor and each time i try to start it it says i need directx 9.0 or higher and i already have it also i have windows vista maybe thats the problme

If you are using Vista make sure you are running in compatibility mode (preferably for XP SP2). Vista runs both Directx 9 and Directx 10, though I can't remember exactly how it decides when it can use them. Anyhow, you should only have to put it in compatibility mode to make it work.

im kinda new to this where do i go to switch to modes

Right click on the shortcut/exe you run it with, and click properties.

Click the "Compatibility" tab at the top
Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Use the list to choose Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
