Exclamation 0.7 really messed up my entire system, please check in on this

I downloaded PR 0.7, the day before yesterday. It came down in under an hour. I found it the download map, like I allways do, and doubbleclick'd it. Then the entire system just said snap. Everything stoped. I just stared at a sitting picture on the screen. I weren't running any other programs then I normaly do, pluss i had pused a movie. I waited for ca. 10 minutes before I pushd the restartbutton.

When I came online again, after a normal timed startup, eveything in windos just didn't work. My anti-virus hasn't even managed to start yet. It all works, but the whole system is just one huge lag.

I'm not blaming the PR crew for anything.

Just wondering if the PR 0.7 might could have something to do with it. The reason for my wondering is that all the erlier versions have used loong time before the install even started.

I searched for half an hour, but couldn't find anything looking like my problem. Thats why I'm asking.

IF ANYONE HAS GOT A SIMUALR PROBLEM, OR HAVE HEARD ANYTHING OF THIS, OR KNOW IF IT COULD BE CAUSED BY ANY OTHER REASON, PLEAS CHECK IN AND GIVE ME A HINT.

It's got nothing to do with my computer preformance, just so that is said.

Where did you download it from?

Do you have enough disk space?

I downloaded it from this website, using the bit-torrent. Yes I allways check before downloading, had 75GB free.

Well, thats what i tought too, but after TWO defrags, wich didn't work, since it only could be done once, it's still a huge pile of lag. But for every GB of harddrive i free up it seemse to get smoother. So I'll just wait and see. Would really appriciate it if you could let this saty, so I mayby could get some more feedback. Thanks so far. Shame I havn't got to try out the new stuff.

some things you can try:

1. check if there are malware programs running in the background - might want to use ProcessExplorer
2. since you report that defraging seems to make a difference: try to run "chkdsk c: /R" in cmd (yes to do it after restart)
[CAUTION: if there are broken files chkdsk will "try" to repair them - which, if they aren't system files, fails miserably (-> back up your valuable data before this step)]
3. reinstall bf2 + pr (perform a checksum check on the files you downloaded)
4. How about letting us try to figure out that your specs are the uber-leets and can't be topped - thus sharing some information like which OS you are running...
5. i do not recommend running multiple graphical applications such as movieplayer and a game - even if the movie is paused since it still uses the gfx buffer imho - and eats up ram
