BF2 Profile conflicted with new monitor

Does anyone know why or how the player's profile in Docs and Settings\Battlefield2 prevented me running BF2/PR after I installed a new monitor? Problem was finally solved by deleting the profile folder altogether and then restarting BF2/PR. It created a new folder and only then could I even start PR.

Thanks in advance.

in the profiles folder, theres a video.con. and it contains your video settings which includes what resolution the game should run at. that resolution probably isnt supported by the new monitor.

Geforce 6800GT
Pentium 4 3.0GHz
2 GB DDR RAM
SB Live! on Audigy2 Drivers

Of course! But it wasn't the resolution that the monitor didn't support, it was the refresh rate. My older 19" CRT ran at 85Hz, the new LCD can only run at 60Hz.

Thanks for your help!

Yes. Change your monitor, graphics card or video drivers and you need to delete your profiles folder and reset everything back up.
