What do I need to upgrade?

So i've been playing PR for a little while now yet I have this problem, when I move across a map fast (such as in a helicopter or car) the game and my computer tend to completely freeze and the only way to sort it out is to turn my computer off and on at the switch.

This is much worse on maps with lots of grass and trees, for instance on maps like Operation Ghost train and the River Qwai I can freeze just by moving around lots.

Does anyone know what part of my computer I need to upgrade to stop this happening?

listing your current specs is a GREAT idea

Its hard to pick and choose and debug when you don't know the current setup

My guess is graphics card, but list all your stuff for others who can help.

-The first thing you want to do it get your self 2GB of ram. If you buy it online i hear its cheaper but i bought mine in a store for $120(USD). With that you should see a pretty good decrease in lag. You should be looking to get it in DDR2 format but you should check your PC first.
-Now the next step is to buy a decent graphics card. If you just want to buy one that will play PR well then you can go for something in the $200 range and that should cover you well(I bought mine in 2006 for $250 and it still does the job so if you buy something in that range you will be doing better than i am)
- The last thing would be to get a new CPU but this all depends on your current CPU power. Im not sure what is a good power for BF2 or PR but i cant tell you that a new core 2 duo at 3.00ghz will more that take care of this and most other games. I have a Intel P4 2.8gnz right now so i have to upgrade soon myself.

EDIT: Didnt see that post. Looks like you are going to need to get a new CPU first things first. Go to COMPUsa.com to see some prices.

I also want to make it clear that what i am proposing will put you up to date in the PC world(except for the graphics card) so i want to make clear that these changes are meant to be done over a period of a few months.

if you have Vista, i recommend getting up to 3gb of ram.
if you have Xp, i recommend just buying another gig. they should be pretty cheap nowadays. DDR2 ram is supposdely very cheap, but check which type of ram you have first before buying.

ram is prob what is causing all the stuttering and lag. Video card is a bit weak too.

Geforce 6800GT
Pentium 4 3.0GHz
2 GB DDR RAM
SB Live! on Audigy2 Drivers

When I added RAM, I went for price[wasnt in a bind so it was just for a small boost in performance, nothing major] and first found what kind of RAM i needed by looking up my model number [media center gt5016e] then copied and pasted my needed RAM into amazon and found it for about 80 bucks. Was terribly surprised by the drastic increase in fps and lack of stuttering and ability to add higher settings when going from 1 gig to 2.

So, looking at the specs you list, have you got a :

Intel Celeron 1.86ghz?
1gig Ram?
nvidia 7300se?

Because that is the class of pc I would use Microsoft Word on and play movies and music (if got a decent soundcard) Sounds a bit like a £350 laptop really (bit like the one I have got her to do my writing on. That is not a games pc and unlikely to run PR at anything more than 800x600 with everything low and 80-90% view distance with an fps that lets you kill people occassionally before they kill you!
