cant install 0.6!!!!

ok im so annoyed now,

i have downloaded this file from internode about 10 times (im about to be shaped)

every single time i try to install it, i get a message: corrupt file: system files corrupt

i have shut down my Zonealarm antivirus and close all unnessesary programs to no avail, someone please help, i know this is a really good mod but i cant exactly say that at the moment...

(btw i have 0.5 installed)

*edit* not sure if this is in the right section

try one of the other direct download links.

there was a thread earlier with the same problem, and the guy just used an alternate link and he was peachy.

I have had similar problem
i download the huge pr6 file and when i try to install it locks up my pc

the way i got around this is i downloaded the torrent and saved it to the same place where i downloaded the first pr6 .exe
they are identical files so im thinking bittorrent will download into the same file
it turns out the file was only 95% complete... so...
instead of running the exe from my desktop i ran it from bittorrent and no problems installing! installation complete>>>>[finish]

does that make sense?

i had installed 0.5 after downloads from many different mirrors including torrent.

At the end i only reboot my system after the errors and retried to install. After 5 or 6 times i succeded to install pr. i didnt change anything.

Now i have the same problem with 0.6. I rebooted my system about 15 times but im getting this error again nad again.

seems to be luck.

The Mod is soo great but also so buggy...

yep, i've tried all those things, ecxept for the torrent one, but i dont feel like downliading another p2p after i just wiped my system due to limewire... isn't there a patch for it instead?? it would be much easier for everyone if you could just download a patch instead of a hole version...i'll restart my PC a couple of times again.. will report back in 5 mins =]

Try the torrents, that should work nicely...and if you get the corruption with the torrent download, stop the downloading (utorrent rmp > stop) and rmp > Force re-check... That always works for me.

ok i have now tried:

restarting PC and installing with firewall off(doesnt work)
downloading from 2 different sites (doesnt work)
bashing keyboard (doesnt work)

and it STILL DONT WORK!! *grrr*

i dont wanna DL from torrent so what can i do!?

DL via torrent whether you want to or not.
If you keep getting corrupt files via direct dl links, that is your only option. Unless you know a friendly soul with a working copy who can burn it to a dvd and mail it to you.
In the BF2 universe there is no easy solution...
Btw, you said you have pr.05 installed. Make sure you rename the folder!
You do NOT want to install 06 on top of 05. Sure way to cause conflicts and errors.

The failure is not in the downloaded file. I had big Problems to install 0.5 and 0.6. Both times it was only luck that the install has finished.

At 0.6 i was about to go to sleep. I tried it a last time with everything on (antivirus, firewall, internet, torrent-client and Netbrowser) - and Voilá. Finish. How i said before: I changed nothing. And i used the same installfile as i used before when i got the "Corrupt-error".
