Whenever I join a PR server, around a minute or two into the actual game, my computer gets a BSOD with a STOP 0x0000003B SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION error. This just started to happen yesterday and it only happens in PR. My regular BF2 runs fine and my other games run fine as well with no errors what so ever. Searching around Google reveals that it may be an issue with new hardware or software when it can't be in my case because I haven't installed anything new and I have no new hardware put in my PC.
I have been able to play PR just fine before with no issues (aside from few minor PB errors) but after I shut my PC off for the night from a game of PR and the next day this started to happen. I am honestly clueless as to why this is happening because it doesn't really make sense to me because nothing on my end has changed. ![]() What I have done to try and solve the problem: -Ran my AV and my adware/spyware programs. -Ran CCleaner numerous times. -Defragged. -Disk Cleanup. -Reinstalled PR. -Hard reinstalled BF2 and PR. -Different drivers. When I play PR the usual programs that are running on my PC are: -Xfire -Ventrilo -NOD32 Anti-virus I have tried running PR with none of them on and I still get the STOP error. Time for specs. Processor: Intel(R) Core 2 Duo(R) E8400 Dual Core Processor @ 3.0GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.6GHz Memory: 2048MB DDR2-800 RAM Hard Drive: 122 GB SATA Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT SSC Edition Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit Speakers/Headphones: Plantronics Gaming DSP Operating System: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (5.2, Build 3790) Service Pack 2 (3790.srv03_sp2_gdr.070321-2337) Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3L Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: STOP error when playing PR
a) why do you run on 64bit windows?
b) if this problem is new w/out any change i would first think of overheating. check your temperatures. |

Re: STOP error when playing PR
Well, this is most likely a software problem (registry problem more likely)
You say it doesnt happen at all in any other game?? Have you tried playing another game for an hour or more & monitor your temps while doing so, as to make sure its not just a simple overheating problem. (PR is pretty stressful on the system) Googling the Stop error shows that that STOP error is usually one that comes up in Windows Server 2003 (X64 editions) which is interesting. You can try this hotix even though it is meant for the WIndows 2003 X64 edition. It wont hurt to try it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923187/en-us Also I believe this is along the lines of a problem with a Tcpip.sys file. |

B. My temps are fine. At time of my last BSOD in PR my CPU was at 37C and my GPU was at 57C. Quote:
I have tried to install that hotfix and a message said that my tcpip.sys file is newer than the one in the hotfix. The one in the hotfix is 5.2.3790.2768 and I have 5.2.3790.4318. But upon searching the tcpip.sys file I have two versions in my WINDOWS folder and I am not sure which one is which. In my C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\amd64 folder I have one that is 5.2.3790.3959 which I think was from the XP 64bit SP2 (see folder location) and in my C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers folder the tcpip.sys file is version 5.2.3790.4318 which I think XP would be using. | ||

Re: STOP error when playing PR
Any more help?
I do also remember when the last day my PR worked, the map changed to Bi Ming and once it loaded it never actually 'played'. It was just stuck on the default view of the map where you can select your kit once the map starts but the kit menu wasn't there and I had to alt-tab out and end the bf2.exe process. I don't think this is the cause of it because it worked fine after I relaunched PR. I also want to say that it always seems to crash around 1 minute 20 seconds to 1 minute 40 seconds in game time (not timing server loading) and that maybe it may be PunkBuster related doing it's checks or whatever it does? If it may be related to that does anyone have any PB commands that I can use to change anything related to that (pb_sleep, I'm guessing)? |

Re: STOP error when playing PR
try putting affinity to one processor, worked for me for a slightly different STOP error.

You can set affinity to one processor in your shortcut by adding"AFFINITY 2" like so:
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 PR will run on 2nd processor leaving the first one to run systems and most background services. Hope it helps |
