I did a complete reformat of my pc and Installed windows xp. The problem is, is that I get random pc freezes in game. The game will freeze with no looping sound and I am unable to get out of it unless I manually restart the pc. This is a list of things I've tried and other Information.
Reformatted my pc and Installed a fresh copy of win xp. Updated xp with all the latest windows updates Including the latest version of .Net Framework I believe. I'm not to sure about .Net maybe this is the Issue. .Net Framework 2.0 service pack 2 .Net Framework 3.0 service pack 2 .Net Framework 3.5 sp 1 There is a .Net Framework 4 client profile for windows that I have not installed I installed BF2 then the 1.41 patch then the 1.50 patch started the game and was able to log in and play restarted the pc and Installed pr 0917 full, part 1 of 2 then installed pr 0917 full, part 2 of 2 then rebooted. I have windows firewall tuned off I use game booster I do not have any Anti Virus programs Installed I have all the latest drivers for all hardware on this pc The only software running during game play is game booster and Setpoint ( logitech mouse ) I used to play PR on this same system before the latest patch with no problems. I had windows 7 Installed and was playing BFBC2 with no problems ( a more hardware demanding game ) with FPS average of 50 I have read through all the stickies with nothing addressing newer systems, only older systems with the older patches. I have googled the problem many times and always get pointed to the same sites including this one. I play only on this pc and I connect online through a linksys router and use Dsl with 6.0 megs down and 450 Kb upload speeds. Nothing is overclocked CPU max temp gets to 55`C GPU max temp gets to 81`C All in game setting are on medium Ant aliasing in @ 8x res is at 1680 x 1050 sound is @ medium voip is on The only thing I did notice a short time before it locked up was that the frame rate started to get jittery and there was rubber banding like what you see in network lag. Then It cleared up and there was nothing going on around me as for as action and explosions. I was just walking and It froze. I restarted the pc and logged back in to the same server for about 15 minutes and then lost connection to the server. The servers name was =]H[= HARDCORE INSURGENCY. Nothing listed in the event logs in windows or in the bf2 dmp folder I cant see this being hardware related after playing with the older patch for pr and being able to play BFBC2 with no Issues. I'm at the point to just uninstall and wait for another patch..Maybe that will fix it. Run PR in 'windowed' mode
If you still have problems run PR in 'windowed' mode to see if any error messages come up (instead of running in full screen, it runs in a 'window') To do so Right click on shortcut. Choose properties from bottom of list. Modify the text in your shortcut's 'target' window. ("C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen 1) Change +fullscreen 1 to +fullscreen 0 Should look like this in Vista ( XP lose the (x86) ): "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen 0 Then Google or use 'search' on Project Reality web page for the error message you get next time you crash.. |
