Exclamation PR won't start (.exe)...I've read the sticky, need more help

Ok, so I am trying to play PR on a completely fresh install....

I install BF2, then patch to 1.41. Restart my computer.

Install 1.5 then restart.

Install PR .9 part 1 then part 2.

When I try to launch the game from the desktop icon, the PR screen pops up then it says "PR.exe has stopped working"

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything. I have tried launching PR from inside the EA GAMES/mods/pr folder. Same result.

I can play BF2 fine.

I've read the sticky at the top of the page but haven't been able to find much help.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue, I finished my build on my computer with Windows 7 x64 bit.

Trying to load the game by clicking the icon on the desktop & in the folder doesn't work for me either.

Alright, Well odly enough while toying around and looking for a answer to our problems, The reason why it wont work is because your Firewall is blocking the game from starting.

Wierd isn't it?

Windows 7 likes to block everything and ask for permission, However it doesn't ask for permission when it comes to the PR.exe.

This is what I have to do to start the game from the Desktop Icon.

1)Right click your desktop icon.
2)Click "Run As Administrator".
3)Play the game.

Hope this fixed it for you, It got my game to boot up.

Make sure your running the game at a higher res. than 800x600

The problem is that something (W7) is telling BF2 to load a resolution that your monitor or video card doesn't support. In my case it was my new widescreen LCD ( limited to 60Hz refresh rate).

That "something" is actually 3 files in the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles" directory. In that Profiles directory are 3 folders called 0001, 0002, and Default. Inside each of those 3 folders is a file called Video.con. You need to open each of those 3 Video.con files and search for the line that says "VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@75Hz". Change all 3 files to a resolution & refresh rate that you know the monitor and video card support ( like 1024x768@60Hz) , and BF2 should work like a champ again.

Good luck

Here is couple of points to check:

- If you have fresh install or you have just deleted your Battlefied 2 folder under My Documents, you have to start regular BF2 once and create or retrieve your accounts before trying to start PR.

- No matter the operating system, if you are running PR without administrator rights, your user account you are using Windows with, must have read and write permissions to mods folder located inside BF2 install folder.

- If you have shorcut to pr.exe with custom resolution specified in the command line (like +szx 1234 +szy 4567) it's good to have the same resolution specified in both your active profile's video.con and default profile's video con. These files can be found at:
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles

run this file in administrator: "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" and it should work just fine. Had the same problem....
