XP CTD On both BF2 And PR Icons .. Help

I have this problem with both, bf2 and Pr screen flickers like its trying to load into game but then CTD and there is no error given, The reason I post is that non of the other related issues resolutions have solved my problem ..

Specs

Amd Athlon 64 3500+
2 GB DDR2 800
Nvidia 220 GT 1024
XP pro SP3

please state what you have already tried

and especially what running in windowed mode brought up
