Default PR crashes after BSS Intro

I know there have been topics about crashing to desktop, but this one seems a little different due to when it crashes. One of my community member's PR crashes right after the BSS intro. The screen goes black and then goes to desktop.

He had BF2 working with the latest patches before he installed PR .9, but when his PR installed, he cannot use his vBF2.

This is his post in my forums for more details:

"Well i have decided to installed pr to play it, and so i get part one and two, and install em. Then as i launch it it shows a small screen then my screen goes black and i crash to desktop. I have uninstalled bf2 and Pr and reinstalled em, and still have no luck getting PR to work. As soon as i installed PR my Bf2 doesn't work.

My Rig:
Intel I7 860
4 Gigs Corsair Dominator Ram
ATI Radeon 5770 Graphics
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)
Asus P7P55D Pro Motherboard"

running as admin? - right click "run as administrator"

having a new monitor? - maybe a refresh rate prolem - in video.con change the resolution line to "800x600@60Hz" or what ever you are sure the monitor supports

if all fails mybe a corrupt config file - clear bf2 profile using BF2Cleaner or deleting "My Documents\Battlefield 2" (it will get recreated with defaults once bf2 starts)

I also have the same problem, except in Windows Vista 64-bit. BF2 only works before installing PR. Also, I don't even see the BSS intro, just the PR & BF2 logo. I've tried re-installing, changed the refresh rate, and ran as admin, but it still doesn't work. My specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz
4 GB Corsair RAM
ATI Radeon X1300

make sure bf2 is patched with 1.41 and then with 1.5 (in that order)

did you try the profile deletion?

I tried the profile deletion, patched to 1.5, and reinstalled PR, but now it gives me the error message
"StaticMesh.fx(2):errorX1507:failed to open source file: 'mods/xpack/shaders/datatypes.fx'
I checked and i do have the datatypes.fx file but I don't have a folder called xpack.

Yea, we tried run as admin, turned off UAC, I had him manually delete all bf2 and pr related files for a fresh reinstall. I had him manually configure the video settings via the textfile. I know some of my other members had the same problem he did, so I am waiting to see what they did. If he gets it up and working, I will post a response on what he did.
