Sup,
I've searched the issue, and it seems others have experienced something similar to it as well. I get bout 70-100 FPS usually, but there are some spots, mainly on Muttrah, i cant look at without my fps dropping to 15.0. It drops to 15 and shoots back up to 80 depending on what i'm looking at. It's also happened to me once before that the FPS drops after a while of playing. I'm not running in any compatibility mode. I'm playing off the steam version of BF2. All programs are closed while playing. No Catalyst Control Center installed so no ATI Overdrive enabled. Using TweakForce Xtreme-G 9.11 Drivers. C2D E8400, 3gb Ram, ATI X1950 Pro, Win 7 32 bit. Thanks |

Well thankfully im not the only one with this issue!!!
Except my system is like 2x more powerfull than yours... I made a thread ages ago with a similar issue, I've tried everything. I cant play high textures without it dropping to 15.0 FPS exact (but I think thats just as low as the FPS meter goes in the game <_< ) I really wish I could figure out why myself, but I have a feeling my 8800 GTS320 is dying or my PSU is dying. But I have a feeling it could be my EVGA 8800 GTS 320 =/ Im waiting on the Fermi cards to finish my PC build, but NVIDIA is delaying too much =/ |

I dont think it's my computer's components cause this doesnt happen with any other game and the FPS drop only happens when i look at a certain spots on the map (and sometimes a consistent drop after prolonged playing)

I play on medium textures and it sometimes still drops to 15 fps. On High Textures it flucuates more than on Medium.

Same problem here with Win 7 32 bit, simply unplayable ... I'm looking for a solution, the best will be to buy a new CPU and use win 7 in 64 bit.

I have a Core i7 system, EVGA x58, so CPU shouldnt be the problem either... I had this problem when I was in Vista too, but XP (from what I remember, havnt used XP in months) didnt have this problem, I thought it was the Mem cap at 2 GB with BF2 but BF2 1.5 patch should have made it use all the memory. I am not sure at all what is causing this... its really irritating to have a fast system and it still lags...

Played today for 3 hrs. and no fps fall. I cleared cache in my docs, updated video driver, set textures from medium to maximum
