Downloaded Bf2 complete edition off steam.
Played it online, its fine. Downloaded the core 0.87 and the levels 0.87. downloaded both into the default folders and intalled them, no worries. The dogtags short cut appeard on my desktop, when I click it nothing happens. I give it maybe half hour as recomended and still nothing. Have reinstalled, changed target, made new "pr" deskop icon still nothing at all, no error message nothing. When I right click on the icon and select "run as" and choose current user (Which is admin) I get this message "pr .exe -.NET Framework Initilization Error" "Unable to find version of the runtime to run this application" This may have already been listen in this forum so sorry in advance.. My specs: 3.2 Ghz 3.25 Gb of raaaaam gts 250 Windows xp |

This sounds like your .NET has not installed properly.
What do you have in this folder (or equivalent for your system) ... "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework" |

The correct versions are there, but it seems that your system is having problems getting the runtime engine to start.
Was there an error during your instalation , or did it hang up or abort ? |

The first time installing pr I had some problems, I think I may have aborted it but I have reinstalled it 2 different times with no error.
I also aborted bf2 setup on steam because punkbuster froze. I just reinstalled pr again, the same error appears. |

Yeah unfortunately reinstalling wont help ... as you have to clean .NET off first.
So you will need to uninstall .NET and clean it from your system ... follow instructions and use the tool here Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework with Aaron Stebner Cleanup Tool ยป Raymond.CC Blog Then uninstall PR ... for good luck and reboot your system. Then clean install PR and .NET ... but don't stop it or abort if it seems to hang up (as it may take a while to install and will need a reboot after). It would be a good idea to create a system restore point before installing after you cleaned it off so you don't have to reclean if it goes wrong. |

Okay I dont all of that no worries, downloaded numerous updates and patches....... reinstalled pr no worries, now when I click on the desktop icon I get this error report instantly.
''pr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'' etc.... I then click on the button which lists the error. "EventType : clr20r3 P1 : pr.exe P2 : 0.0.0.0 P3 : 4a619738 P4 : mscorlib P5 : 2.0.0.0 P6 : 4a7cd8f7 P7 : 343f P8 : 119 P9 : system.io.directorynotfound " "The error repot includes: Information regarding the condition of pr.exe when the problem occured; the operation system version and computer currently in use; your Digital Product ID, which could be used to identify your license; and the internet protocol (IP) from your computer".........W T F ? Seem now I have a new problem, but atleast now im getting a response from the icon hahaha. I tried going on bf2 vanilla and recovering my account, now I im back at the same place again. No response from the desktop icon and when I press run as, and choose current user I get the same runtime error as before. Very sad : |

Heh
Your new problem I think will be solved by loading up vanilla BF2 first and then recovering your profiles. Then closing down and launching PR. EDIT : Oh ok , just read your edit. Hmm very strange indeed. Recovering should have sorted it out. Look in your MyDocuments/Battlefield 2/ folder and see if you have a profiles directory, and that inside that you have profile folders like 001, 002 etc ? Check your instalation path for BF2 and report it here ? I think trying to run as current user might not work, as you need to run from an admin account ... But provide the above info and I will see if anything is wrong. |

I reinstalled it again and now when I click on the icon I actually get into the game menu!! but now I get a new error. I have looked at that other post of the same error but cant download the file for some reason.
And I tried making the shortcut from the pr folder. Think it may be because I have the steam version? My current shortcut target is "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" Im so close I can taste it! |
