Default Problems with starting PR

Hello guys! I have just returned to PR after about 3 month pause. The first thing i noticed that the new PR 0.86 is out. So i came to this site to download the patch. After installing it and restarting the system I tried to launch it and it said-(C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr.exe failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.) I reinstalled it and it just keeps saying the same thing. I have installed the core and levels for 0.85! And while it was installing it said that it needed to install the Microsoft NET Framework 3.5 SP1, but halfway through the install it said that the .NET Framework installer has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctly. So, here's my problem.

Pls reply, cos I really want to play PR again.

If this is PB related then you should get PB setup.

Hi! I still haven't got My PR 0.860 working(Read the first post of this topic). Anyway, is the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 necessary to run PR 0.860? Cos i think that the problem is related to it.

Yes, it is necessary to run it mate.

What exactly is the error your encountering from the .NET installer?

I don't quite remember it, cos i currently don't have the computer with me that i'm playing PR (and i'm not going to check it because it is 1.45 a.m in my country at the moment i'm writing that reply) with. But I remember that it says something about .NET Framework installer has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctly. And check the error log or something like that.(as again, can't say it for sure because of the *thing* mentioned above)

THANKS FOR READING!

OK, hi! I got that PC. So, check here: ( http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...5-network.html ) one of the guys suggests to uninstall any previous versions if the .NET Framework. I can't do that, because my Windows tells me that (The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.) WTF???? EVERYTHING else uninstalls/installs normally. So, when i tried to install the .NET 3.5 SP!, here's the exact error message: (The first one appears on the installer itself: An error occurred during setup. Installed files have been removed from your computer. For known issues and troubleshooting information, see the online Readme. For error information, see the Error Log. The second one appears in a new window. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctly. An error occurred during setup and a report was created with useful information about the error encountered. Please tell Microsoft about this problem bla bla bla....)

Waiting for response. Cheers

ok, so what OS is this you are running?

Also, have you already gotten .NET 3.5 installed?

Have you reinstalled using .86 core and levels or just the patch?

Default Re: Problems with starting PR

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. As before I can't install 3.5 because of the error i described. First I downloaded the Patch because i had 0.85 core and levels. But after i first encountered this error i uninstalled 0.85 core and levels and downloaded 0.86 core and levels, hoping this might help-it didn't...

Basically the only thing i need is to somehow uninstall the previous .NET framework, which is v1.0 and 1.1 hotfix. But i can't do it because my windows installer then gives me an error i described in one of the previous posts. i downloaded windows installer 4.5 but that didn't help. Wait, do I need to first install just Framework 3.5 and then Framework 3.5 SP1?
