Hi to all,
I think this list should include the following (since many people seem to have problems with it) Q: When I'm running the installer, a message pops up telling me a certain file is corrupted (beeing Kozelsk client) A: Try downloading the installer from another link (the filefront download has had some problems) Don't know if this problem is allready fixed however. Greetings, Red Feniks. |

Hi,
Another question that should be added to & answered in the list of FAQ's is: Specifically, why do we need Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Project Reality, i.e., pr.exe? It wasn't needed for BF2 upon which PR is built - and it wasn't needed thru PR 0.856. I don't even see how any game should need any kind of .NET framework from Microsoft (of all companies.) The prompt to install the third party software (the .NET framework) from a second hand source [a video game mirror] was surprising & baffling. While offering to "update" my computer's .NET framework is appreciated, it is not generally a good practice to download updates from second hand sources nor even from links provided by second hand sources. The prompt was not only unexpected but, because it interrupted the PR Mod installation, thereby making completion conditional upon accepting another third party's software, I felt like I was being hustled. This is the same shady tactic that con artists, telemarketers, & sales people like to use while you're saying 'yes' to everything else - 'Oh, BTW, before we continue, could you please just quickly [etc...]' Both the original game, BF2, & the mod, PR, worked fine with the older .NET framework. And so the gaming community does not stand to benefit from the newer Microsoft "update" as far as playing BF2 or PR is concerned. A lot of people downloading 0.86 must be asking the same question. 'Why is it "required?"' If we don't benefit from it, who is benefiting from it? Whose idea was this?! The new Microsoft "update" shows multiple tell tale signs of being SPYWARE: Has Microsoft Sneaked Malware Into Your Computer? | Curmudgeon At Large - Alan McCright An example of it being spyware is that it installs the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 extension (add-on) into Firefox (which is not a Microsoft product) without asking for your permission. Once installed, the option to uninstall it is grayed out. In other words, you are not allowed to uninstall it - off of your own computer! And then it proceeds to automatically & quietly install software from sites that you visit - regardless of your safety or consent. This is not only an imposition to those who prefer Mozilla over IE. The fact that Microsoft is sabotaging a competitor's trusted product is an illegal business practice. Why are you developers helping Microsoft do something that is not only intuitively wrong but also explicitly illegal? Do any of you devs work for Microsoft by any chance? I was eager to play the latest version of PR but now I'm having second thoughts. Other people just go along with clicking "ok" and "accept" because they're just interested in playing the game. But that's just it - We are NOT interested in Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1! We are interested in PR MOD!!! Thank You PS Please reissue 0.86 without making us download the other stuff that we didn't ask for such as malware by Microsoft... |

I can't tell you why PR needs that framework cause I don't know th reason but I can tell you that you can always uninstall the Firefox plug-in. You probably don't have administrator rights or something.

I have tried the recommended fixes for the pr.exe problems , including deleting my documents/BF2 files , installing and reinstalling the net framework , but still am unable to play PR .86 . PR .85 worked fine on my comp , but trying the .86 version will not run past the logged in screen concerning pr.exe . Any more ideas ?

The game keeps crashing when the map loads, or more exactly at "Objects". I tried to reinstall the whole game, from scratch, new 1.41, Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 even dowloaded those bf2.exe's. Still no succes. And PR .85 was working fine. I miss playing, please soeone give me some help.
BTW, I have Vista 32bit. Also tried running PR under admin rights, nothing. Regards, 50calibershooter |

Idk if this would go under the crashing when loading, but my pr crashes A LOT. When i say that i don't mean loading levels mine is fine with that but i do mean that i will be riding in a heli and i hit a key and it crashes (its any key it just randomly does it). I will be walking down the road and hit crouch and crash (mine is normally set to ctrl but i set it to c to see if that was the reason and it isnt) all im saying is that this game crashes way to much to enjoy a half of a full round. Oh and i have 600+ GB free still so i know it isnt memory.
