Same exact thing here. It usually happens about 2-3 minutes into the game. Every map, every server.
Can you guys look into a patch for this? it seems pretty widely occurring..

i no this idea has already been posted and everything but this would be a big leap for pr mean fastroping in a blackhawk is comen with urban eviroments and heck in the game joint task force when u get reenforcements they fast rope so y should bf2 be differ this would half to be a thing were its limited to blackhawks and maybe the merlin but they would only carry a few ropes

Default Re: Punkbuster Error: MD5Tool Mismatch Troubleshooting

Hello,

I love PR, played it once and got error after error after error, same with my brother who introduced me to it.

This is my first post. I am an experienced gamer, 11 years behind my belt. I also design websites, batch programming, network security/pentesting, hardware installation...basically I know what I am talking about...although I hate C++ :P ... Anyway, I have the same problem as many here have. Error is below:
Code:
Punkbuster kicked the player 'The_Denv' (for 2minutes)...
MD5Tool Mismatch: mods\bf2\std_archive_mod.md5 (len=360)
Now please, first of all I read this entire thread and there was a guy who claimed it was our computers that had the problem and he wanted this thread closed. I really do not like that guy, he wanted to close the thread WHY? He was forcing his opinion down our throats why? He was telling us how to think, taking away our freedom of speech...he really annoyed me

Now, I use to make maps and levels for Operation Flashpoint, I play ArmA...infact my gaming collection is huge! I know for a fact it is not my computer, you wanna know why "Mr. Know it all"? Because I do my homework, I know its not my computer, I know how to check for errors.

Now...The problem is PunkBuster, yes PunkBuster. I couldn't play BF2142 when I first bought it due to PunkBuster being over sensitive. PunkBuster is the problem. Now, I have been apart of lots forums in my 11 years experience [even when we had a BBS on the net, long time ago]...Can a developer please just warn people NOT to use PunkBuster? What ever happened to the old 'admin kick' if a cheater was present? The problem lays with PB it is too sensitive.

Please can a dev reply to this without another question? Because if this continues I am not going to play PR, this is not a threat, as a business man myself if this does continue then PR will fall on its head. OFP got a lot of attention, when the bugs started everyone left, then ArmA came out and it has a lot of memory demand, now they are releasing ArmA2 with some bugs fixed..it will go on and on and on. PR popularity will die if PB is not taken off, I am saying this from experience folks, I mean no harm at all people, I love this game. My brother forced me to stop playing ArmA and start playing PR, and I did...for 2 days due to the constant kicking due to MD5 mismatch errors. This is a serious error, I wouldnt put it past EA using espionage to harm this free community project, an info war.. as a hacker [white hat] I know these things go on..it could very well be an attempt to ruin PR's PR [pardon the phun]...I am not stupid, and I am only advising.

One more thing, the guy who wanted to close this down and forced everyone to stop blaming PB and PR..who is he? Because if I was a cop or a detective he would be my primary suspect for an attempt to ruin PR, telling members to basically 'shutup' when asking for help...and did I see it correctly that he is an Admin??? Whats up with that if he is the most annoying person in this forum? I would have banned him a long time ago for such wording.

People, think outside the box..this could very well be something far bigger than you could imagine. Remember folks PR doesnt get any money for its creation and GNU projects get hassled all the time, its the corrupt economic world against people who dedicate themselves to make a very cool free game..you see EA lose out on money because this is free.

Follow the money folks, follow the money and it will answer your question, something is going on here.

First off, I am here to defend the guy who basically said it was our computers. He had very good information and so did Killroy. So basically, you are jumping he gun to say that EA is sabotaging PR? Then you go off and blame a server admin who is trying desperately to help for all this? You sir are the one that needs to shut up. Thank you KillRoy and arn for your helpful info. 0.8 is out now and no one has these problems anymore but I will be sure to favorite this thread, in case one day I need this.

I have been getting the MD5 error after playing in Tcombat .85 server. It works in all other servers. I did a reinstall of BF2, PR, and punkbuster. However i do not understand why other people can play in Tcombat too. After i get the problem in Tcombat it starts giving me the problem in other servers.

This!

I came in here to say exactly this!

I did not have this problem all afternoon, everything was fine, I played for 3 hours straight, then as soon as I joined Tcombat and got this error (shaders) it happened on all the servers. I do not think this is a computer issue per se, it's not that there is something wrong with our setup, it is our graphics settings on the fly and PB is detecting and kicking for this.

Now when I play with all my video settings on high, I do not have any problems, aside from poor performance on my laptop. But as soon as I turn them down, it happens every time.

I have been getting mismatch errors as well, in relation to Kozelsk. I know why though, because when I install the map pack the installer tells me that the client archive is corrupted. What can i do about this?

EDIT: Turns out that the map pack i downloaded had a corrupted file. Redownload fixed it.
