In all honesty, after trying to fly the HC3 Merlin and the UH-1N Iroquois (Affectionately called the "Huey".) I have never encountered lag from either of them while flying them in a created local server of my own. However, whenever I try to fly the helicopters on a live server like TacticalGamer and Battlearena there is always lag every 3 seconds or so.
My computer is about 4 years old, however it is scratch built by myself. Processor: 3.2ghz 800mhz Pentium 4 HT (Hyperthreading) Memory: 2gigs RAM Hard Disk Drive: One 40GB (For Windows.) 7k RPM, Two 120GB (SATA RAID Stripe) HDD (240GB total.) 7k RPM, One 200GB HDD (Backup memory.) 7k RPM. Video Card: Radeon X850XT 256MB AGP (Dual Monitor. <Yes, I like CRT's>) All settings are at 1024x768 at 75hz. Overall Quality: Custom Terrain: High Effects: Medium Geometery: High Texture: Medium Lighting: Medium Dynamic Shadows: Low Dynamic Light: Low Anti-Aliasing: Off Texture Filtering: Low View Distance Scale: 100% So, theoretically I'm not playing this at full force just enough to offer graphic performance with quality in areas of importance. Not sure where this lag is coming from... But it's odd though, sometimes while playing online it's there and sometimes it's not. Usually I don't see the Merlin bug anymore while on the Battlearena server after 5 rookies crash it thinking they "got game" to be flying around the city for no apparent reason. Oh well, hopefully we'll see this issue come to an end. |

It effects PR especially because we have such large maps The heli lag is not related to that afaik. Having some ace computer might reduce it some but its still there to some negative effect. Only thing Ive noticed is that a low server population will usually produce no lag for everyone, can we all agree on that? If that is true then the voip idea might have some credence, Im sure a TS only test has allready been tried at some point though | |

Huey/Merlin Lag (or "HML") is something that's being looked into by the testing team, with the Devs taking our findings on board. Time and patience please, folks!

I've been having merlin lag forever haven't taken the huey out except once so can't say on that but I managed to fix my merlin lag by disabling the EAX audio option. Have only tested on a local server so far.

![]() It really depends on your ping... There will never be a huey/merlin lag bug in a local server. But if you go into a server with about 100+ ping you will have that bug |

My findings are, that when I start PR, get on a server, jump in the merlin and get NO lag, then I NEVER get lag in all following rounds (even when you leave the server and rejoin).
And when there are lag in the first round, all following rounds will lag too. |

I have tried many remedies to try and fix the bug. The one way that works for me is you take your pilot kit and jump in a gunner seat of another vehicle for a second or two. Seems to help out.
