A Couple Of Bugs, Right Off The Bat

Well, I'll first tell what I did:

I simply have Battlefield 2: Deluxe, which is just BF2 + SF.
Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Core and Maps I believe.
Nothing else before, I've used the mod once.
I usually have nothing running in the background or anything, except all necessities.
Plus, I also don't have that much technical problems with the game itself.


So, I ran in a couple of issues to start with.
Well, the first is probably not much of a bug, but it's just that it loads slow.
And I mean, even slower than originally, but I guess the maps are a lot bigger.

Then, one of the first other things, I guess it the following:
It was when I was just trying out the mod in a self-created local game with only me in it.
At one point I died while I believe holding down the button for the communications-rose/menu-thing.
And it somehow didn't go away anymore even when loading a new game.
So that menu would be in my face all the time and other menus would just open and close in the same place.
It only went away after restarting the game, which is a pain.

Then, I believe there were 1 or 2 other issues, which I can't remember.
Oh yeah, I found it weird that, when I would for example barely get hit, maybe only walk into something,
my character would keep whining about pain and such and one time even die.
I mean, really, with nothing happening, only get hit by environment or something when walking around.
This is either a bug, or if it's the meaning, it's just annoying.

But the worst thing, is probably only on my system or maybe just some other users.
When I want to join a game online with more players, it loads the game.
But once I reach the game, it just kinda gets stuck.
Well, I see the image and cursor standing still, but I do hear some sounds, not looping either.
I can't tab out, I can't call up like Taskmanager or anything.
While I do see Windows' cursor come through sometimes.
All I can do is either reset or turn off my computer.
I have tried servers with the name containing 'V7', '0.7b' and '0.7'.


Sorry if this is a lot to read, but I just thought I'd let this know.

First off -

After you installed BF2+SF, but BEFORE you installed PR, did you download and install the 1.41 patch for Battlefield 2?

You *must* have Battlefield 2 patched to the very latest version installed.

Patch available from the main EA site and here: Patches and Fixes: Battlefield 2 v1.41 Patch - Demo Movie Patch Download Section - GamersHell.com

If you haven't, uninstall Project Reality, then uninstall BF2.

Reinstall BF2, then patch to 1.41, then install PR 0.7.

Yes, it was already a fully up-to-date BF2, since I only installed PR yesterday.
So it's like from most basic to mod:
BF2+SF, whatever patches needed to play BF2 and finally PR, the last version only.

Well as a first step I'd say the same still applies; first step - clean out your BF2 install entirely, re-install from the DVD and then apply the BF2 1.41 FULL patch, then install PR.

Then create a new player profile and see what happens.

The "player moaning and then dying" when you take damage is exactly how it should be - taking a bad fall down a mountain *should* cause you to bleed out and die.

See how the other stuff is after a clean re-install.

Well, sorry but I'm not going through the hassle of reinstalling the game completely, setting everything up again, especially since I have like 5 CD-ROMS, sadly, to get this huge mod working.

And I doubt it would help, cause I couldn't even get BF2142's last patch working by reinstalling EVERYTHING.

If there is no simple solution, well that sux.
Because I have a clean working computer, the only games that mess up most are Battlefield's.


But what I did was just walking around by my own, not even running.
And it's like the air slapped me and I bled to death yeah.
Couldn't I heal myself? I thought that little package was to help yourself?
Or did I get that wrong...

Could you post what kind of computer you're using?

Also, you may have had a bad Download?

Medics can heal themselves by looking directly up/down and clicking with the medpack
Otherwise, use the field dressings (works similar to vBF2's medpack)

Try lowering your settings, and yes PR DOES load a LOT longer, also it will take more from your machine, if you get 60fps in vanilla BF2 (with no mods) your fps will fall dramatically if you have settings high.

When joining game it takes a bit time to load, even when youre ingame already, its drawing all sorts of things so wait, of course, if you wait 5mins or so and still nothing happening then its troublesome and something is wrong.

As for the pain yelling thing, it means youre bleeding, find a medic, so if you run around like headless chiken tou might hurt yourself.

When the menu thing stays just take the menu out again and pressing the middle button.(Q & T are differend menus btw so test them both, its prolly the kit request menu staying up)

Oh and before you go playing PR, READ THE MANUAL! serously or else you get basshed to tears, trust me.

But damn, somehow this post gave me a smile.

I don't know if I had a bad download, I just left it download without anything else on.
So if it's gone bad, they should fix it on their servers.

But that's the pack I mean, the field dressing thing.
Well, I held it, threw it on the floor, walked over it, "entered" it. XD
But short after that I just died...


And my computer... well, it's a home-built, you need to know the hardware exactly?...
