Only if you're using an old profile - that's my experience anyway.

Why don't you delete the entire folder?

It worked for me. You just have to set all your previous options back (+ account and PW).

The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities... It is best to win without fighting.

Open video.con with notepad.

Go to the line VideoSettings.setResolutionYOURxRESOLUTION@YOURREF RESHRATE

Change it so it says VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

This fixed the problem for me, hope it helps.

Hello. I have played PR earlier on this computer lots of times. No parts on the computer has been changed since then. I was able to play both BF:2 and PR smoothly.
I took a pause of PR during my military service for around one year.

Problem: Installed PR 0.95 when it was released but after this when I tried starting the game: the logo appears, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop.
Both BF:2 and PR behaved this way.
I completely uninstalled and deleted BF:2, PR and the patches.
Now I have installed BF:2 but it still does the same thing; at startup the logo appears, screen is black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop.

Code:
CPU
You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+

CPU Speed
You Have: 3.2 GHz

RAM
You Have: 2.0 GB

OS
You Have: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

Video Card
You Have: GeForce 8800 GT
Video RAM: 736.0 MB
3D: Yes
Hardware T&L: Yes
Pixel Shader version: 3.0
Vertex Shader version: 3.0

DirectX version
You Have: 9.0c

Sound Card
You Have: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio

Free Disk Space
You Have: 48.3 GB

DVD-ROM
You Have: Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A

*Used http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and it was above recommended to run Crysis.
Current situation: BF:2 installed, currently downloading patches but does it make a difference? If I can't get vanilla BF:2 to work, it sounds like PR does the same thing?

Since I have currently only BF:2 installed a line that looks closest like that is: game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 0.

The whole video.con looks like this on notepad:

Code:
rem Optimal setting for CPU > 1400 MHZ
game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 0
game.setDetailTexture 4
game.setShadows 1
game.setEnvironmentMapping 1
game.setGraphicsQuality 3
game.setLightmaps 1
game.setRenderWhenSpawnMenu 1
game.setMenuViewdistance 100
game.setEffectsQuality 3
game.setPerformance 3

Had no effect either.

I tried running as administrator but if complains I need a password for it which I do not have and never have had.

Begging for help here. Thanks.

I used this setting in video.con to fix same problem with PR closing on startup.
Code:
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 1
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 1
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
After that PR started and i could adjust settings to old settings (1920x1200 all high).

Im no expert but when this happened to me I read deleting profiles under my docs/battlefield2 worked. It worked.. Something to do with the display resolution line in any of video.con files /profiles that prevents startup... typical dodgy BF2 coding..

My dear friend, if its a fresh installation, create the profile with BF2, then configure the video options, close Bf2 and open PR.

I have problems starting pr too. I see PR logo rectlange, then i see only black screen, and pc crashes, it doesn't even respond to ctrl+alt+del, Video.con is set correctly, bf2 itself is running fine. Might be some issue with startup videos. When trying to run windowed, graphics goes crazy, I see a massive graphics glitch, and still, no response.

Toshiba Satellite A300 Laptop
Pentium Dual Core 2ghz
4GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) SP2
BIOS: InsydeH2O Version 1.90
Mobility Radeon HD3470

What should i do?
