Only if you're using an old profile - that's my experience anyway.

The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities... It is best to win without fighting.

Hello. I have played PR earlier on this computer lots of times. No parts on the computer has been changed since then. I was able to play both BF:2 and PR smoothly.
I took a pause of PR during my military service for around one year. Problem: Installed PR 0.95 when it was released but after this when I tried starting the game: the logo appears, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop. Both BF:2 and PR behaved this way. I completely uninstalled and deleted BF:2, PR and the patches. Now I have installed BF:2 but it still does the same thing; at startup the logo appears, screen is black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop. Code:
CPU You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ CPU Speed You Have: 3.2 GHz RAM You Have: 2.0 GB OS You Have: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600) Video Card You Have: GeForce 8800 GT Video RAM: 736.0 MB 3D: Yes Hardware T&L: Yes Pixel Shader version: 3.0 Vertex Shader version: 3.0 DirectX version You Have: 9.0c Sound Card You Have: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Free Disk Space You Have: 48.3 GB DVD-ROM You Have: Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A *Used http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and it was above recommended to run Crysis. The whole video.con looks like this on notepad: Code:
rem Optimal setting for CPU > 1400 MHZ game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32 0 game.setDetailTexture 4 game.setShadows 1 game.setEnvironmentMapping 1 game.setGraphicsQuality 3 game.setLightmaps 1 game.setRenderWhenSpawnMenu 1 game.setMenuViewdistance 100 game.setEffectsQuality 3 game.setPerformance 3 I tried running as administrator but if complains I need a password for it which I do not have and never have had. Begging for help here. Thanks. | |

I used this setting in video.con to fix same problem with PR closing on startup.
Code:
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 1 VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 1 VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 1 VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 1 VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 1 VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1 VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 1 VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1 VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@60Hz VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples |

Im no expert but when this happened to me I read deleting profiles under my docs/battlefield2 worked. It worked.. Something to do with the display resolution line in any of video.con files /profiles that prevents startup... typical dodgy BF2 coding..

My dear friend, if its a fresh installation, create the profile with BF2, then configure the video options, close Bf2 and open PR.

I have problems starting pr too. I see PR logo rectlange, then i see only black screen, and pc crashes, it doesn't even respond to ctrl+alt+del, Video.con is set correctly, bf2 itself is running fine. Might be some issue with startup videos. When trying to run windowed, graphics goes crazy, I see a massive graphics glitch, and still, no response.
