Ive got mega cooling in my system lots of airflow 7 case fans not including my ram cooling fans and my cpu never gets over heated. Just wondering if anyone else is running the creative xifi gamer sound card, talked to one person who has this sound card and started having the same problems right out of the blue with no other know issues.

Have you tried manually updating your OpenAl file?

I have this problem too, but only when i run the airborne mini-mod and training maps.
I have: AMD X2 Dual core, with Gigabyte 3d Rocket cooler. 2gb of RAM BFG 7900GT OC, overclocked out of the box, anyone know if this is causing a problem? A hell of a lot of cooling fans. I tried uninstalling BF2 completely, re-patching reinstalling PR, it seems to be less frequent now, but still really irritating. |

System/ Temperature at full using
CPU: AMD XP 3500+ (Venice)/ 42° - 50° Celsuis Mainb.: Asus A8N SLI Premium/ 36° - 45° Celsius Display:Gainward 8800 GTS 512MB/ 72° - 78° Celsius RAM: 2 GB Corsair Value Sound: X-FI Extreme Gamer/ 42° - 45° Celsius ( Manuell installed Sensor on Card and 80mm Fan for Cooling System direct at the Slot) I have also a X-FI Extreme Gamer, with the latest OpenAI Driver and getting the same Lags/Crashes ( 1 - 4 per 1 1/2 hour). The Most time it happen on Maps like Quinling and Kashan 64 or Qwai 64 or on a full 64 Slot Server on every Map, if somebody talking in VOIP, a JET/ Tank having a Flyby and if im in a Gunfight with Enemy and that all at the same Time. It will happen not so many Times as i changed the Settings/ Soundoptions from Hardware and High Quality to X-FI and Extreme Quality. The Setting in X-FI Command Center on Standard, deactivating SVM. No Problems like the explained in Vanilla or other Games. But in FOH2 it will happen. |

This freezing issue has been problem for PR quite a while, and for Forgotten Hope aswell. As far as I know no-one has found specific reason why it's there, and why some have it and others don't. None of the previously mentioned fixes haven't solve it for me, and because the freezing issue has been reported here over and over again I think there is still lot of people having this problem.
So far the freezing has appeared for me besides the looping sound as crashes to desktop, blue screen of death or wierd graphical glitches. There has been errors with afd.sys file while having BSOD, which refers something network layer related; on the other hand graphical glitches would point to GPU driver problem. Some have mentioned Punkbuster because it has had some problematic aggressive memory scan features. So at the moment I'm just waiting someone will come and explain where it all comes from and tell how to fix it, or hopefully someday there will be some update and it will just disappear. From latest freezing:

That looks like GPU overheat.

Yes that could be the case. GPU fan was set today at full 100 % and there wasn't any freezing. Game was still very laggy but supposedly that came from server end.
Edit: Yep, problem solved: GPU was just running too hot - damn 8800's lame fan control. Edit 2: No it can't be just overheat. I raised fan levels considerably and temperature is around 56 - 60 C at heavy loads and still get freezing. None of those graphical glitches anymore but there's something else in this. Edit 3: Ok, seems it was both overheat in GPU and too low voltage at motherboard because of OC. No freezing so far, lets see how it goes this time... |
