Default Picking up guns without camo

Why do you have to pick up enemy camo along with the enemy gun?
I've seen American soldiers running around with AK47s because they ran out of ammo with their M16 or M4. Why can't we do that in Project Reality? I mean, in real life no one would bother putting on an entire enemy kit just to get his weapon.
Or is the engine too limited to allow that to happen?

Yes, basically. I'm 95% certain that is hard coded.

That's the sort of claim for which you may wish to provide some form of reliable source. Just sayin'.

yes it has happened in emergency situations however its very not recommended

what is the weapon hasn't been serviced and will blow up in your face?
what if the weapon was boobytrapped on the ground and will blow up in your face?
etc perhaps involving more blowing up of faces

the kit geometry is linked to the weapon, which is how you have a HAT on your back when using the HAT, I dunno if there is a work around to prevent picking up of enemy geos, its been so long since i played vbf2 that I cant remember how it worked there;

I would think a way to work around this would be having all kit geometry modelled on the player geometry, which would help optimize PR too btw! Only objects that would go with the original kit geometry file would be the weapons on the back, grenades etc. There would be an increased number of player models in order to have same diversity but the models would be lighter than the combinations of kit geometry and bare player model.

Would be a shaiteload of work but worth it in my opinion. Pros outweigh the cons!

Thoughts? Good idea?

In PR you pick up the kits equipment along with the kit, this usually includes the helmet which is the main problem, in vBF2 your helmet stays the same as i think it's part of the player model and not the kit as such. But i think in vBF2 if you look when you pick up and enemy medic kit you might have thier camo on your rear end as such.

Actually, the helmet is not part of the player model in vBF2 either (can say for having messed quite a bit with those files)

Interesting.

I have to admit that I don't mind what the outcome is, but I find it really cool looking when a Brit soldier has an Insurgent kit, with the head-scarf and AK. Not sure why.. Very Special Forces perhaps (and i'm really not a SF worshipper).

Playing as the US Army, I recall when picking up an AK the only "camo" you wear is the shemagh OP4 wears. Which, imo, looks operator as hell.

I haven't played in a few months so I may be wrong. Although I don't think the game as been updated since then.

Its possible Forgotten Hope 2 does this. You can pick up enemy weapons without the kit geo.

Does FH2 even have kit geometry? I havent played in a while, but I dont seem to be able to remember if there were any differences between soldiers with different kits.
