it seems to me that the btr beats out the lav in head to head combat due to the high rate of fire of the btr. of course if the btr surprises the lav they win.
however, if the lavs ambush the btr or if they move together, they can usually take apart the btrs pretty quickly ( I think the btr is less well armoured, correct me if i am wrong). When I play russians I usually find enemy apc driving around the open where they are simply more visible than the btrs due to their size. Lots of people forget that armored vehicles need cover too, remember to put your armor hull down so the enemy will have to be much more accurate to deliver actual hits on you while you can fire alot easier. |

Ive tried driving and gunning BTR-80a's on yamalia a few rounds and it sucked.
BTR-80a has a bigger gun, but it seems like its less armored than the LAV, also the gun on the BTR will overheat before u can pwn a LAV. BTRs are looong, thus easier to hit and spot, and their big gun has only 150 AP rounds and no HEI (WTF?!!? Is that a bug or its the same IRL) |

Yes, but you have more firepower
fire in bursts and you can take LAVs apart before they get a chance to put serious fire on you true, but they are also lower, and only their gun is high up meaning you can hide most of the apc behind a hill with just the gun over the top, this makes you extremely hard to hit effectively while you can fire just like normal anyways, like everything else in PR, both have pros and cons, if you use your advantages and avoid having the enemy exploit your disadvantages, you usually end up winning. I do believe Sun Tzu has something to say about this matter. |

BTR=meaningless, there's a massive difference between the BTR90A and the others...

Like i said, 1 Leopard 2A6 and the thing is all good to go for Canadian, BTR80A together will punch trought a L2A6 and with the HAT/LAT and every thing, Russian would had plenty of way blowing up that baby, while canadian using proper tactic and teamwork will manage to crush every thing on the map.

LAV v BTR is fine, even against the ones with the larger guns. with the lav maneuvering is a very important thing to keep track of, you are much slower than the BTRs. so use maneuvering to your advantage, cut around the outside edge of a hill and pop out at a BTR for mid to long range combat or just be partially concealed behind something. never get into a short range fight

Anything can be a weapon, anyone can be a threat. Never under estimate the combat ability of your opposition. He may seem weak and harmless now but even a dead man can carry a few pounds of explosives in his gut or deliver a decisive blow by rotting away in your water supply.

Remember that Canadians have 2 guided heavy-AT kits. They give one hit kills against BTR's over great distances and level the balance significantly. Russians have only their tandem warhead RPG's.
